I have a problem with my Son of Bertha. It has a Eminence Kappa replacement speaker in it and it farts out when I hit any low note or put any volume to it. Am I just overpowering it or is it blown? I have my SWR Bass 750 driving it.

I can not see how that amp could push a SoB too hard but I'm not familiar with that Kappa speaker.
What speaker comes in them from the factory?
I owned the SoB and pushed it with one side of a Crest CA-9 and never had any troubles.
Is the Kappa parameters matching up with that cabs deminsions.
I've had cab issues in the past that were strange sounds that seemed to come with low notes, but were actually not the woofer.
One was that the electrical connection of the 1/4" jack would get shaken too much by a big low note, another was that the tweeter was mounted too loose and again got shaken by low notes.
These are worth looking into. Another possibility, though I can't be sure, is that the porting you have in the SoB is tuned well for a certain speaker, but not tuned so well for the Kappa that you've now got in there, giving you an unfriendly speaker resonance.
Cool. I did not have a chance to pull the speaker out, but I will have tonight. I will check all the connections and the horn as well.

I made the buy of the century!! I just picked up a SWR SS-180 yesterday for $80!!! OMG! I can't beleive it. This was my very first SWR I ever owned. 180w total! I bought it in 1987. Oh I cannot wait to get it. I did not even ask if it worked! Anyway, I will have pic's soon...
Iam using a SWR 750 Workingpro 700 with an Aguilar 2x10 and a Fane 15in in a SWR cab. with a U.S.A Fender P-Bass and i love it i just got this rig a few weeks ago. this saturday will be my first gig with it i cant wait, it was awesome at practise. i do want to trade the 15cab for a 18 i think. The first SWR i ever played was at church and it was a 350 workingman head on a SWR 4x10, and thats when i heard SWR and i really like the sound of them. Now i have my own thanks to my awesome wife for my birthday.
Been a swr fan since the early 90's! Still playing thru my Basic 350 and Goliath jr 2! It's the best sounding amp i've ever played ! I'd like to join!
im considering buying an swr sm900 ....i know someone selling it used for 500 im trying to get it a bit lower....ive read a few years back..... a lot of reviews on this amp and they were all good....ive been using a gk 400 for years also was using an older peavey 2 channel with graphic equilizer from the 80's
ive been reading some have issues but i guess with any amp they have to be repaired at some point....are u familiar with this amp?....can u give any recomendations on this amp...thanks much im a newbie here.....thanks much!!

SM-900's are brilliant. But you need to treat them well. Don't use bridge mode into a 4 ohm load and do leave space above it in your rack. They get too hot in those situations, then a bunch of different things can go wrong.
The starting tone and EQ options are excellent, especially if you have an older manual handy with the tutorial in it and can spend an hour working through it. $500 seems a good price, assuming you like the sound!

the seller took my offer of 400 i believe this might be the earlier swr which i believe might be better, i think for that price its not bad even if it needs future repairs i feel..im going to try and stick to the matched ohm's with one cab in a rehearsal and at home with a peavey 4x10..thanks 4 the response david1234 looks like i might be owning this by the weekend!
Hi folks!First time posting here.Looks like I came to the right place!I recently bought a new 350x and am currently running it through my old Earth B-25 2x15 cab.I will be listing/selling the cab but haven't settled on it's replacement yet but the Goliath Jr is a very strong contender.I played my Epi Casady Sig through the Jr/350 rig years back and loved it.
My rig for the past 6 months has been a Goliath Jr. on top of a son of bertha. Worked great and the only real issue I had was it needed to be tilted in some situations to bring my sound closer to ear level. Depending on what type of music your playing and the band your playing with, the Goliath Jr. might not cut it alone. I don't believe your going to get a whole lot of low end IMO.
You might want to think 4X10.
I went with Megoliath and am happier than ever.
