JUST GOT ME TODAY AN SWR SM 900 EARLY MODEL....MAIN VOLUM KNOB IS A LITTLE STATICY/CRUSTY BUT IM WORKING SOME CONTACT CLEANER ON IT HOPEFULLY THAT WILL WORK ONCE ITS SET ITS GOOD THOUGH..MAN IM STILL TESTING OUT IT OPTIONS ON IT AND LEARNING THE SETTING IM JUST USING A 4X10 PEAVEY CABINET

My old bass player was rocking a 750x and a pre-Fender Goliath 4x10.
I absolutely loved the setup. I will have the exact same thing eventually. Sounded killer, looked killer, what more do you need?

i just bought a swr sm 900 for 400 dollars last weekend i liked it at home but in rehearsal i was doing a lot of tweaking on it and wasnt getting too happy i was using it on a 8x10 ampeg they had in the rehearsal studio...i think i might run the eq flat and use a graphic eq to it. my gk 400rb does me good and my peavey marklll is decent but i guess it takes a lot of times adjusting on the swr.
When I first switched to SWR, I was very concerned with the sound as it took me a while to get used to it. Everyone else was saying wow but I was just feeling like something wasn't right. I added my BP-80 pedal to the setup and found that I could really hear the detail of my effects with this setup.
I say yes, try out an EQ and maybe an effect or two. You'll probably be amazed at how much clearer you hear your effects.
Did you bridge it for the proper ohms? When they are properly pushing a cab you need very little eq. Try subtracting eq. rather than adding. Try little or no compression/limiting. Try no more aural enhancer than 11:00. Try cranking that pre til the light flashes then back off a hair. Then Master for the volume you need or can stand. This gets the most signal from your bass inside the head before you amp it. Enjoy. Also if it doesn't sound good on that cab it could be the combination not either piece.

I had this rig since 2001. I purchased the head and cab brand new while I was in high school. I worked a whole year for it
. It has given me the sound I was looking for and I get compliments all the time about my tone!
Till this day its been working awesome even though some of the chrome (on the handles) seems to be chipping away on the face plate. Maybe I can buy a new faceplate from SWR?
Any ways can I get a number?
p.s. I'll try to get pics up of my rig.

Anyone heard any word on new Amps from SWR. Someone said they were coming out with a Golight Series of Amps.
Be nice to have a High Powered Light Weight Amp Style amp.
Something with the EQ section of the M2, Bass Intensifier Circuit, Compressor, a nice DI, 800 watts at 4 ohms, and oh say around 10 pounds.

im really digging my SWR bass 750 into Eden D410T. the sound is killer. weather i plug in my ibanez sr506....or my p-bass. i get the best tones out of it. im so glad i got it fixed when the power section blew and didnt decide to buy another amp. SWR FTW!
rocked out a gig last night with my bass 750/eden D410T rig. it sounded soooo fat and meaty. got many compliments after the show. the perfect rig.
My SM-900 is currently running flat on all the EQ settings and I am using a Sansamp DI. Aural is about 1 o'clock. Limiter is prolly at 8 of 10. I play through a Ampeg 1540 (400W @ 8 ohm) in my studio and a 1810E (more than enough @ 4ohm) for my weekend gigs.
I can't seem to get the power I am looking for. It almost seems to lack the "stank" necessary for making cool rock moves.
Ideas?..............

What bass are you playing through it?
I recently decided to go with some distortion through most of my last gig and got great compliments on tone. I've always steered clear of distortion but someone said that it sounded like Chris Squire's sound. Too bad I can't play like him. haha
