I use them. I take just the Headlite and 2 Golight 1X15's (both 8 ohms) for all bar gigs. And get minimal PA support due to our mixing board being full so if we bring a keyboard player I'm all bass rig. While its enough volume, I am at maximum (half way up without clipping) it is just enough to keep up with a loud funky drummer 3 guitar players and keys. If I need mucho sound I bring the Amplite and my (4 ohm) Goliath Jr IV cab and push 400 Watts to it from the Headlite and the Amplite splits the power to the 2 Golight 1X15 cabs @ 200 Watts each. If I needed more juice than distributing 800 Watts, I would think about better PA support! That's a ton of power. So with the right cabs the Headlite & Amplite are a killer way to go if your nuts about the SWR sound and weight conscious. I am!

Just couldn't help myself.... My main SWR head is a 1987 Studio 220, first model year of this great amp. I came across a 1987 PB200, the last year model that became the Studio 220. Thought it would be nice to have the first model SWR made, knew it would be a keepsake, look what I got. And it blew me away! Excellent condition, very clean, fully functional. Same solid sound and tone of the Studio 220. And it is very much a transistion model. The original PB didn't have a DI adjust, this has a unlabled factory installed DI adjust and the Frequency Shift (fender TBX control) was replaced with the crossover frequency like the Studio 220. It is basically a Studio 220 without the transparancy control. Best $150 ever spent on an amp. This will not just sit on the shelf, it's a player that will be sharing playing time with the 220. Also went down to the local music store to play with a Headlite today, and it is nothing compared to the old SWR Engineering heads.

Kinda excited I bought the very overpriced ($100) rack mount kit. FedEx is delivering it today. Can't wait to keep um' safe! The last Rack case setup I used was a 6U case and a 750X with tuner and conditioner. Man that was heavy! This time I'm doing a shallow 2U SKB with RU-N2N tuner and Amplite & Headlite. Anyone else get the rack mount kit yet?

Pair Baby Blue combos with matching Baby Blue extension cabs
SM400s head
Super Redhead combo and matching Goliath Jr. II cab
Henry 8x8 cab
California Blonde
Pair Mr. Tone Controls parametric eq
Prototype single channel Mr. Tone Controls

But nowadays I use Avalon U5, Crest CA9, and Bag End 4x10.

Just found out something interesting. My 350x and my Megoliath (bother purchased used three years apart) are both 2002 models. Just thought it was kind of interesting. I also like that the 350x is from the first production year of that line.

I purchased my WM210 cab new, and my WM160 head used ten years later. Both turned out to be 1998 models - and only one month apart (August and September). Depending on when they got shipped, they may have been at the factory at the same time - and reunited a decade later!

Count me in as a fan/owner. Used to have a 4x8 cab; now I use a BBII combo.

And while I'm here, this seems like the perfect forum to ask: What 8" (8 ohm) replacement speakers do you recommend for an SWR Baby Blue II? I'm pretty sure I fried the Celestion BG8-60 speakers, and possibly the Bag End E-5S midrange.

My Kay electric sounds good through this amp, but it really shines for upright.

I also have a BBII and have replaced the 8s with Emenince Alpha 8As. Think it warmed up the sound, really like it. They are 125W so that gives you 250W coverage for a 160W amp, the amp will fart before the speakers. They are also good from 58Hz to 5KHz which is wider than most 8s. US Speaker is a great site to compare. I still have by bagend 5 in the BBII.
