SX "Ursa" Basses?

Has anyone seen these before? Modified headstock shapes and tiny logos.

Are they new or old? What's the dealio?

That being said, they look nice.

I like the metallic silver body of the middle one, but yeesh -- I hate the headstock shape and the nuclear-orange finish on the neck. Where did I put my steel wool? Still, put a decent pickup and some better electronics in that thing and for, say, a little over $200.00 you have a very nice instrument.

Not a fan of the new headstocks either but i do like the fact that they actually offer a Pbass there now, and have a bigger variety of colors. That silver 'n maple there is callin my name.... unfortunately i just ordered another bass last night and can't justify getting another one.... for a while that is

I think it was on reranch, or maybe the essex uberthread here, someone has successfully reshaped the new headstock into something that looks like a passable "telecaster" headstock. It's a bit small, but not so you'd notice.

The orange color is annoying. I got an SX shorty J a few months back and a shorty rosewood and block neck to put on it. The maple neck that came off is for another project. I've seen people who have used citristrip to remove the orange and leave the poly. The orange must be a top layer.

My two necks are the old decent headstock ones, so I don't know if construction has changed, but I can tell you they're both very well constructed necks. Great fretwork, very solid and "hefty". Straight as an arrow. The block rosewood one went on my shorty Jazz with a set of hipshot ultralights and a set of Chromes. It's almost like cheating it's so insanely easy to play.

I'm more intrigued by this:

I'm fairly certain that they changed the headstock to keep the fender folks (attorneys) at bay, despite the fact that they said it was to get better balance.. It's possible to shape the headstock into a tele bass style headstock (which I prefer to the regular fender type). It looks a lot like the carvin headstock. SX's are not, nor have they ever been for everyone, but for the price, you can't beat it.

simultaneous soap box madness.

I do wonder how the balance of that hollowbody is. Just blew all my cash for now, but hopefully these stick around.
