I'm up to over 80 different [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] that I've linked on my site, and I'm not even close to exhausting all of the different searches I can do for related content. Funny how there are quite a few other forums (such as the Ask A Pro, and Sponsored threads & forums) that number less than 100 threads. I haven't even gotten into how many posts the Synth and MIDI topics have.

I shall not go quietly into the night... :synthbassist:
To sortof play off of the character you have adopted in your website ....

KEEP ON TRUCKIN' (if you ain't from the 70's you'll have no idea what I'm talking about!)

How fitting is THAT? :)

Re: keyboard stands. My keyboard controller (it's only a small one) has two screw threads on the underside so you can actually attach it to two straight mic stands (of the appropriate height). I've never done so, but there might be other keyboards like it out there as an option.

Not sure if this is the place. The bay has a T-1 for BIN just north of a grand.

This is near me and the temptation is real but I can't afford it.

If you are reading this you know you want, nay NEED this device. Heck you need it more than anew sofa or new whatever.

This sounds like a deal.

I have found that most serious musicians will skip paying a month's rent to purchase something they need (want) to have for their rigs. Mac-n-Cheese and Top Ramen is the staple food in the cupboards of the serious bass or guitar player (for as long as it takes) while financing that certain something they require to make their music.

~Ahem~ .... guilty!

Wow, lots of Tauruses (Taurii?). I thought this Elka setup was cool too:

Yuppity yup yup! It's the Twitter Mentality. People's minds are shrinking to suit 140 or less character thoughts. I have never even been on Twitter (nor have I ever even sent a text message on a cell phone, and I don't even own a smart phone). It's a shame, actually. English is such a detailed and fluid language, with the tools to be able to convey highly complex ideas and thoughts. But there is an entire generation that is reducing their ability to communicate to less than 140 character responses. It makes me wonder how that type of brain development will affect the future, especially here in the US. The US is already way WAY behind in education and acedemics than other nations. For example, we produce 1 engineer for every FIFTY engineers that come out of China. We're way way behind in math and vocational skills as well.

But by the gods we can friggin SHOP! Yea buddy ... we some shoppin' sunsabitches alrighty! Yea, we can buy our asses off like nothin' doin'!

We're also 57th (not a typo, fifty seventh) when it comes to health care and life expectancy, but we pay more per patient than any other place in the entire world. What's that tell ya? That someone is making some SERIOUS money off of us shoppers, while we're getting medical care equal to many third world countries. We pay FAR FAR more per patient than anyone in the world, and receive crap care for it!

Welcome to the 21st century folks! :)

You've never sent a text message? Wow flux, that's impressive.

So what's going on in the topsy, turvy world of heavy (synth bass) rock?

I just acquired a new MIDI controller, an Akai EWI USB.

Pretty cool. I'm using it with Mainstage on my Mac, so I have endless possibilities for sounds.

I jammed with a sax player in college who used one of these. It was really cool, but he abused the super high octaves available. We used it to do jazz covers of video game music

Not once. My wife does now and then (some services operate on "text only" basis) but myself, nope. No need to! I mean, I was born in 1960, "we" (those of us also born pre-web) lived and got along wonderfully with an "electric" telephone hardmounted to the kitchen wall. Our socializing was done all in person, face to face, or on the telephone (but when I grew up I was not allowed to be on the phone after 9pm ... and one hour max .. y'know .. girlfriends and such).

I find that anything I need to say inside of 140 characters is usually done in person. Larger ideas get posted on forums if I feel I really need to say something that might add to an adult conversation or a mutual interest (hobbies, forums, et al).

I've been with the same woman since 1979, so I have zero need to "troll" Facebook et al to meet women or flirt.

Hell, I can't even reply to your comment without this much verbalization. :)

I have a number of friends/family members that tell me I should start up one of those ~ahem~ "survival" courses where people learn how to "live" without their phones. I think I'd find it difficult to keep a straight face if I did such a thing. I mean, c'mon ... really? "teach people how to live without their phones" .... seriously??????? What's next, teaching them how to wipe their butts?

I just find the entire notion a bit disturbing. Nearly a civilization-wide addiction that if "cut off cold turkey" (internet black out) they'd lose it. Yes, yes, I fully understand the benefits of internet communication .... fully. But I also understand humanity in a way that is unique (I've survived one of the largest race riots in US history, I hear those sounds every night in my sleep, going on 22+ years now). I've seen what happens when people lose it on a grand scale. Keep in mind there are roughly two generations of humans that do not know a world without the web, without Facebook or Twitter. There are entire financial EMPIRES that totally depend on web traffic. We're sure putting a ton of faith in the satelite system.

We've also become tolerant of "trial by Twitter" ... which by any other definition is a witch hunt, mob scene, etc. I only hope we're wise enough .... no ... mature enough to handle this type of power.

Back to topic ... please PM if anyone wishes to reply (I've contaminated this thread enough already).
