TalkBass App To Be REMOVED/DELETED [security concerns]

I'll continue to tweak the responsive design to try and speed up mobile/tablet browsing. We have no plans to make another dedicated mobile site - the current site is already responsive, and eliminates a lot of fluff that the full desktop version has. But I can tweak the current responsive layout.

So for you, you obviously want bigger text and buttons. Is there anything else? I'm not going to increase text size and buttons on the default style (more people have already complained that there's too much big text... can't win), but I can look into making a new style with big text for mobile. That should be pretty simple.

I would like bigger links to click, BUT I could easily live without them IF things just would load much quicker. I just dont want to wait a 30-60 seconds for a page to fully load and stop shifting before i can use it, or find out I accidentally hit a wrong link. Speed is by far the priority. I can deal with accidentally hitting the wrong spot on a four inch screen occasionally.

Again, I understand and support your rationale for your decision as you probably understand its ramifications waaay more than I do, I just dont want to be sooo locked out 99% of the time.. I miss you guys!

thanks for the response.

Another thing that is driving me crazy is that the "current page button" eg if you are on page 2, the 2 box ... Is clickable and the links are tiny. I keep clicking same page when i want next or prior.

Not sure whats tweakable and what isnt. My prior suggestions are the most important.

I have a couple of suggestions to improve the interface:

I find myself using the "Next" button more than the "Post New Thread" button, but the "Post New Thread" button is 10x the size and almost on top of the "Next" button. The "Post New Thread" button is redundant anyway, as the same button is at the top of the page.

Two other functions that I use all the time are the "Mark Forum Read" and "Watched a Forums", unfortunately these are buried in a tiny drop down menu at the top of the page, and I almost always use these when I'm near the bottom of the page. So it would be nice if they could be moved to the bottom of the page and made into buttons.

Agree with dStar's post above (I think pickles is also talking about the same issue). The size of the 'Next' and also the size of the numbers (Prev - 1 - 2 - 3) is very small on my iPad. There's plenty of room to make these bigger and they're used every time I browse the site on a mobile device.

The mobile app was far superior to having to come on a computer.
Everything with it was perfect for me.
I love this place and was a supporting member but you take away something i use 90% of the time and raise the member fee.
Just feel a little jilted.

You don't have to use a computer to access the site, you can get here using the web browser on your smartphone.

Yes, and many of us still feel like using the mobile browser is a clunky, unsatisfying experience compared to what was offered with the app. It's certainly cut my browsing of the site down considerably.

For those wanting a new app, please be aware that even if we do hire a team of developers to make an app just for us, I'm guessing it would take at least 6 months at least to code and test. It would be quite a project, with ongoing support. It's going to be mobile browser for quite some time.

I'm doing my best to respond to UI tweak suggestions here. But we can't please everyone: some have stated that there's too much whitespace, while others have said buttons are too close together. Some have said text is too big and bold, others have said it's too small. Which makes sense, because with every device being a different size and resolution, it's going to be a different experience for different people. Overall, Google has given us a "mobile friendly" ranking, so that's good for something :)

Anyway, back to work! I would suggest, however, that suggestions be posted in the "Suggestions" forum, so it'll be easier for me to track.

Thank you!

Ever approach the TapaTalk pp about licensing their stuff to run off YOUR servers and allow you to modify as needed?

I would be absolutely fine using just the browser on my phone ( and not having an app) if theres a way to make it load much faster and be more responsive in general. Something that is slimmed down alot for mobiles. Ive been on twice today for very short times while I was at work between appointments on the work computer. I think I tried to get on twice more earlier with my phone and just sat waiting for the home page and said screw it. My time on here has gone waaaaaaay down... which is a plus in some ways, but a big negatory in others.

what browser are you using? The site comes up on my iphone / nexus 7 within 2-3 seconds, I don't see anything like what you say you are seeing
