TalkBass App To Be REMOVED/DELETED [security concerns]

It is a new (Sept 14) tablet and cable wi-fi.
I think it is all the Google ads slowing it down. Any kind of surfing on it is never as fast as my iPhone but it works fine under normal surfing. Sweetwater, MF, CL all load and work fine but TB is way to slow loading. I get big ads showing everything I looked at on Sweetwater of MF.

There should be one banner at the top and one at bottom, right?

One on top and one on the bottom and a big box on the right side that goes down for most of the page. That is always a Google ad.

Ahh ok. Sorry one more question: do you know the tablet model? I'm interested in the pixel dimensions. That sidebar ad (which is only for unregistered guests except for the forum home page) can probably be disabled on tablets. Thanks -

Yep that will slow even the most powerful device to a crawl. Google loves to shove those ads in your face. The only solution that works for me is to "root" and install an ad blocker. Of course there goes your warranty if you do that. I'm hoping TB will develop a mobile friendly version of the site.

This is the biggest loss.

Steve, I would HIGHLY suggest that you change your preferences, to watch threads that you start or reply to. The functionality will then be identical. There's no reason to separate "participated" and "watched" any more. Watching a thread will not send you any emails or anything (unless you elect to), it only provides you with an alert, just like tapatalk did.

I'll give it a try. Didn't seem to work right last time.

You mean, you've changed your prefs and it didn't "take"? You're not watching this thread even after posting in it?

Good reason to take down the mobile app. However I found myself visiting the website every other day or every 3 days in comparisson to 3 - 5 times per day with the mobile app. Just wondering how many members are in the same boat. It is important to have the mobile app, should be a company out there that will have top security. Maybe a donation campaign to make this happen.

Both worked fine for me, but when using my phone I preferred the app. That said, I don't neeeeeeed to have 24/7 access to TB. So, with that being the case, thanks for eliminating a potential security threat, it's much appreciated.

so is there any plan to do a dedicated mobile site, especially one that doesn't have the lag and really small buttons/text? i've been trying the site over the last few days and end up giving up after 5 minutes and a few pages. (just stole the wife's laptop.)

I'm asking because you've addressed issues for people who are having minor conversion issues, but haven't said anything about those of us that are finding the Desktop site really problematic on a mobile in general.

I'll continue to tweak the responsive design to try and speed up mobile/tablet browsing. We have no plans to make another dedicated mobile site - the current site is already responsive, and eliminates a lot of fluff that the full desktop version has. But I can tweak the current responsive layout.

So for you, you obviously want bigger text and buttons. Is there anything else? I'm not going to increase text size and buttons on the default style (more people have already complained that there's too much big text... can't win), but I can look into making a new style with big text for mobile. That should be pretty simple.
