TapeWound Club~Anyone?

I don't use them exclusively, but I do like the way they sound on my Jazz. As a matter of fact, D'Addario tapes are my favorite string for that bass.
I have used D'Addario and La Bella BLACK Tapes. BOTH of these brands are VERY good Balanced sets, IMO, BUT, the D'Add's are a Bit more Mellow/Thumpy and the La Bella's are more round/full, ON MY BASSES. You can't go wrong with either, IMO. I am ALL P-Bass though....
If y'all want a CLUB MEMBER #, PLEASE Ask!!!! This is great! I have already seen things in this thread I would have NEVER thought about. Like Tapes being good for Folks with tendonitis, or arthritis..... That is a GREAT thing to have out there for folks to hear/read!

They might be a tad cheaper, but I just can't bring myself to buy strings from anyone other than bassstringsonline.com. Jason (SlapFunk on TB, I believe) is the absolute MAN.....
Don't do clubs much ... but I do have LaBella black tapewounds on my Rob Allen MB-2f bass and new white tapewounds in the mail for my jazz basses. Can't wait to try those, if they live up to the hype I do believe they will become new favourites. I like nickel roundwounds on my fretted bass but wouldn't mind less noise, and the Chromes flatwounds on the fretless are nice but way too stiff.

I am using the Labella whites on both my fretless basses. They sound close to rounds but allow me a different playing style with the super slick feel and no string noise. I am sold on these.
I had a problem with the clicks when touching my pickup poles. But I just coated the poles with crazy glue and problem solved.

I have LaBella std. gauge Black Tapes on my main gigging Ibby SRA305, LaBella White Tapes on my backup Ibby, Fender tapes on my custom half-fanned custom P/J style bass and D'Addario Tapes on my Rick 4002. I went through a huge string safari last year, played a lot of flats, and wanted the characteristics without the tension. I picked up the LaBella Blacks and the D'Addario Tapes used off the forum, and have not looked back.
The thing I find most interesting is that with most conventional bass strings, whatever type, manufacturer, or gauge of set, the G string, having less mass, loses its sustain earlier, and of course, the E string, with more mass, has longer sustain. However, with especially the LaBella Black Tapes, standard gauge, the E string, being larger in diameter, has more tape winding by virtue of the larger circumference in the string. It seems to damp the sustain slightly, but not noticeably, and the A and D also in proportion, so that the sustain string-to-string is the most even of any strings I have ever played, and I've played bass since 1976.
