For some reason, I never tapped my foot when playing and still don't. If I did, it would distract my playing.

Brother Ray does that but, he's kinda leading the band with thatI was actually taught to tap my foot to help subdivide the beat (Downbeats and upbeats) while reading. It’s very effective.
Jeff Berlin rocks back and forth like he’s autistic. Seems to work for him.
Yep...hmm?When my kids were in HS I had a minor hobby of watching the feet of the kids in the concert band. So many of them tapped their feet to the rhythm but usually could not keep a steady beat. They would either stray off the beat or they'd tap their feet in time with the notes they were playing which did nothing to help them stay in time.
Well done on ditching the white shoes....at least you be accused of looking (too) doofy. Honestly, whoever is making the accusation, it smack of a significant other hating the way you eat.Do you tap your foot to keep time? I sure do. And in recent videos of me I see just how distracting it is. It has caused me to stop wearing white shoes on stage. Beyond that I think I need to stop tapping my foot and maybe start bouncing my leg or swaying or something more dance-like to keep time. I'm not sure I see many pro entertainers tapping their foot.
Do you tap your foot? Or have you stopped? If so, how?
I do tap a little when I am seated at home practicing but using a drum loop helped some. When I am standing I sway a little and move around but I don't tap feet anymore. It took a while to stop nodding my head and doing "bass face". My hair is too short to do that Sweaty Teddy thing!
But more importantly, I'm glad to hear you aren't wearing white shoes on stage. In the name of all the angels in heaven, please never do that. Never.
uht-uht-uht, Nope, not ever, white shoes are not for playing unless you're playing mahjong in assisted living. That means You, anyone who might say they do and it's "cool". Stop it!
