Double Bass TBDB FAQs

Don't forget--

Q: Did anyone hear who won the Metropolis SO audition?

Anonymous Troll #1: Joe Blow completely dominated the audition, but one of the judges hates his hair, so they cut him.

Anonymous Troll #2: Dan McBasserson won. Joe Blow was drunk and urinated all over the floor.

Anonymous Troll #1: I'm tired of your lies and rumors. Dan McBasserson only won because he had a voodoo doll of Joe Blow and he slept with all of the judges.

Rational Observer: The orchestra website press release says that Pietro Bassoni won.

Anonymous troll #2: That's just a typo, they'll be forced to admit that Dan won soon.

The FAQs have been so updated. Nice to hear from you Michael. How are things in the SW?

Things are going great, thanks. Plenty of work down here and some good players. I keep worrying that my bass will dry up and turn to dust, though.

Back on topic--if I may be SO bold, I would Recommend adding random Capitalization to the "Stanley Clarke" line to Really GET the Flavor right....know what I mean? ;)

Q: What do you think of (famous bassist)'s new CD?

A#1: Man, he is way too busy and I'm sure the tone is processed somehow, maybe with pitch correction to cover up his suspect intonation.

A#2: Hey guys, this is (famous bassist). Sorry you didn't like the CD. Hopefully you'll dig the next one. I always appreciate your frank opinions. This is such a great forum.

A#3: :hyper: Hey (famous bassist), you rock! Awesome CD! I remember seeing you with (famous jazz musician) back in '87. What a great show yadda yadda yadda.....

We clearly need a "first bass"/"internet bass order" question and answer, then I think we can legitimately start pointing people to these FAQs.

How's this:

Q: I've been thinking about getting one of those Ronzoni upright basses that I see on eBay. They sell for $299 shipped, come in four colors and include a set of weedwacker strings along with an actual weedwacker and a balsa wood bow (although I don't really need a bow). Good idea? Am I on the right track?

A: OMG  SSDD! FYI: CCB=POS but then again YMMV. Hope this helps. (LMFAO).

Can anyone tell me which strings will play the head to Donna Lee? I'm supposed to learn the head to Donna Lee in all 12 keys and I tried, but my strings won't play it and I was just wondering if some of you guys who play Donna Lee could tell me what strings you use.

Do you suppose she was hot? I mean like profoundly drop dead in your tracks hot?

Why else would you write a tune.

Course the tunes a bitch. Maybe she was just a bitch so they wrote a bitch of a tune in her honor.

In my experience Dominants will play that tune, but they play it kind of slow and out of tune. Come to think of it, Spiros create a similar effect. You might want to look at a non-Thomastik string...
