Q: I just bought a shiny new bass, sight unseen, mail order, from (fill in the blank). I have never played UB before. What can I do to get ready for its arrival?

A: Nothing except to get a teacher, learn to sight sing, play piano, and train your ears.
 
Can't believe we left this out originally, but something I read today inspired me:

Q: I'm working on the bach cello suites and the original flexicores are a little stiff for me in thumb poistion any ideas what string might be similar, but more friendly for this application?

A: I've got the LaBella Jamerson set on my '72 Fender P-Bass, I love it for that old school sound! SWEEETTTT!!! I'm saving up for a Stingray 5, tho. My friend has one and their off the hook!

Q: "Hi all we just recorded with my band we play rockabillyhiphopalternativeindierock and it went really well we did not have a mick so we used my friends xbox headset and threw it down the fhole and it worked but when we moved the sound files to my laptop all the bass just DISSAPEARED OMFG WHAT HAPPENED ANYONE PLZ HELP ME WHY!!"

A: I have had teh same problems, so i always upload our audiofiles to myspace from my stationary computer

Answer 2: Bass frequencies need lots of space to generate, so you need a bigger laptop.
