TC Electronic presents SpectraDrive Bass Preamp & Line Driver

I would have bought it today if it was capable of taking toneprints for the original spectracomp, even just the TC configured ones. There is just one so far designed by Ida Neilsen... if someone gets one, maybe they could post a report.

The SpectraDrive is available from Sweetwater and on Amazon as of today.

TC really should have had either a third footswitch for mute or an external switch jack that could activate a mute, especially since this is a DI.

I agree that a mute is pretty much necessary in many situations. Fortunately, I was able to find a switcher with built-in mute for my small pedal board:

I use my B
I think the idea is to be able to cut frequencies that are usually trouble spots and to be able to boost frequencies that are in sweet spots.

As for how it works, I've had a TC BG250 combo for years with this type EQ and it works fine. Granted I've only used it for home practice so others may have better answers about how it works in a gig setting.
I used my BG250 in church and the EQ always works great. The soundman love it and the Tubedrive and compressor. Im super happy of the pedal. I know it will kickass like the amp.

I purchased one and unfortunately it seems to be defective. The Spectracomp dial has what I would describe as a dirty pot crackling sound and also what seems to be an intermittent subtle short.
It's a solid unit and sounds good.. but I shut it down when I heard these noises.

I got mine on Friday, no issues like that but mine won't accept any tone prints.

Did you try to load the ones that are specifically listed under the SpectraDrive Section? I don't have a SpectraDrive but I do have a BG250 and I was looking around at the Tone Prints today and noticed they have a separate section for the SpectraDrive and it has a bunch of new compressor Tone Prints added. A couple of days ago the only one showing in the Tone Print app for the SpectraDrive was the Ida Nielson one. Now there are several.

They may be coded differently for the SpectraDrive so you may have to go that section of the app specifically?

I did, also tried the desktop app, no luck.

Are you hearing anything unusual when using Spectracomp dial.. maybe it inherent with this unit.

I thought at one point I was hearing something funky with the comp dial but that appeared to be a one off, haven't had that happen again. I'm also thinking I might be hearing a change in the drive quality now when I change the tone prints, but I can't be 100% sure because still no blinking LED to confirm it.

Thank you.. I have to plug in the headphones and give this a good close listening.. I really like the way it sounds.

I agree, I was playing on it last night and I absolutely love the sound, It gives some of the best and cleanest slap tones I've ever had, OD is surprisingly usable as well, I'm sure it will be a great pedal once the tone print issue is sorted out, just gotta get a firm answer on that from TC. But, just the hazards of being an early purchaser I suppose.

Yes, I thought about being the early bird purchaser.. but I'm confident in TC..
