TC Electronic RH450 discussion - Tweaking the Preamp

Even software updates cost money to develop. This application is not end-user ready by any means, and will have to be polished to be released, not to mention outsourcing the manufacturing of the custom cable to connect everything up.

My guess is that this isn't something most folks would be interested in, and could be offered as an accessory just like the footswitch or gig-bag.

Still, it's WAY to early to go down this road.

I know. i did read it. Dang broo...wrong side of bed?

For such a 'thorough' post, I didn't see any mention if it would cost anything IF it was even released (which was my understanding to begin with).

We have freedom to post our discussions here, and hopefully to get ideas for things to try from others. So please participate in the discussion with us. We can not however share the Tweaker PC application with anyone so please don't ask!

I want to give a very special thanks to Uffe and TC Electronic for asking us to particpate and provide feedback. This is the kind of thing you want to see from a manufacturer as it shows they care about what their users are interested in. So many here have made suggestions and Uffe has noticed them. So here we go!

At the moment, I dont think anyone has the answers....its more of a test to see whats possible first. TC will no doubt let us all know if something is going to hit the market :)

I was just wondering that IF it DOES go to market (it may or may not), would it cost anything?

That's all i was trying to figure out. I wasn't trying to figure out IF it would go to market.

Sorry man, just the nature of text communication. I'm not miffed at all. Did you read Uffe's quote that I included? It stated that this may never see the light of day, or what will come of it.

Again, my guess is that there would have to be a charge for this because of the development work involved as well as the manufacturing of the cable. It's a total guess based on nothing but my experience in business.

For everyone, everything that we know is in the original post. We really can't answer much more than that at this point.

hey if you guys ever get the chance to talk to the RH450 developers directly, please please please ask them to replace (or add) MIDI to the RH450 itself. That is the one thing they really struck out with big time in my mind--it is so frustrating when there is an industry standard and some company decides to go proprietary. I understand the whole "if it's proprietary, they have to buy more of our gear" thing, but looking at it from a rig communication standpoint, it just makes so much more sense!

lol i already can't wait for the RH450 rev.2

Well, here's another guess (I'm just full of those, right?), but the midi connectory on the back isn't meant as a midi interface. Sure they use the connector type, which is nice because it makes replacing the footswitch cable easy. You can pick one up anywhere in a pinch and use it. But the interface is used for more than that as we are all now aware. Because of this it seems it would have to be a proprietary interface logically even though it uses an industry standard pin-out and cable.

Another (kinder and gentler) answer would be...

We don't know yet what TC's plans are for marketing the software.

It could be that they intend to make it available for a fee so that those who want additional tweaking power can have it.

It could be that TC wants to include it as a "value added" offering with new amp purchase, or as a download from their website for current owners of the RH450.

And as has been said, it could be that no product emerges from this at all, although that probably not too likely...

So we want to be very careful about managing everyone's expectations.

It would be HORRIBLE if somehow this commendable customer-focused R&D process somehow got turned around and became a source of customer disappointment, you know?
