TC Electronic RH450 discussion - Tweaking the Preamp

Good stuff Ken. My equipment showed up here this morning, but I've yet to play with it. Crazy day with my real job, and I've been putting out fires all day long. Looking forward to playing with this tonight. I'll be trying it on Windows 7 first, just for fun, so we'll see what happens.
Cool! I know there are Vista and XP drivers for the Midi interface. I assume the Vista drivers will work with 7. Who knows!

Don't hold out on us Ken. How does it sound with the LPF raised? That alone would make the RH the perfect amp.
I'll mess with it a bit tomorrow. My very quick testing resulted in a bit more open top end, but still a very warm, organic top end. Not sure if that is just inherent in the very nice, organic coax tweeter in the RS210, or just the voicing of the pre, regardless of the lo pass filter setting. It is already at 5K, which is well into the sparkle region.
I'll obviously be focusing on this, and will use a few different cabs to really flesh it out over the next couple of days.
There's so much power in this software. The compressor settings take up a full screen. I am clueless on that (don't really use compression live), so hopefully one of the other guys can really dig into that.
I'll focus on the Q settings for the mids and the upper treble voicing
The varying of the center points and volume/gain settings is pretty uninteresting to me, since there is so much range there already. However, if you raise the range of the treble with the lo pass filter, of course, it might make sense to move the entire range of the treble control up a bit (like what was done with the Staccato).
Anyway, fun stuff.... stay tuned!
Yeah, lemme know on that... I have an XP system at home I can use, but my pref would be my W7 laptop.
Just for kicks, I plugged the midi interface into my older XP system and it already had driver support, so it was literally just plug and play. Fired up the amp tweaker and bam, works perfectly. Yeah, it's freaky to see the LED's spin around as you move the app sliders. 
A couple cool notes... having the guts of the spectracomp exposed really does show how intricate of a multi-band compressor it is. Way cool. I could see spending a ton of time on that alone.
Also, the preset files are stored as standard XML. I can imagine a LOT of potential cool things to do based on that, as well.

Perhaps the LPF removal/raising in conjunction with backing off any default compression they have baked in there...

Off topic, I just received my TC Nova Repeater (mainly for guitar use) and first impressions is 'wow'. Great build quality, slick controls, and comes with its own power supply incl in the price.

I dont think it has a looper im afraid, but the mixture of clean digital delay, tap tempo by strumming the guitar bass, and the spillover function made it a clear winner for me.
I used to have a Line 6 DL4, the massive green one. Far too much on it for me, as Im only really interested in a good quality delay sound, not 100s of features. Plus guitar isnt my main instrument, although id like to try this on bass!

I don't have control over the more advanced stuff yet (like the filters), but I'm able to switch memories from my Moto Droid as well as change EQ settings (over WiFi). I'm working on getting the tuner on the Droid screen next.

I think that bit of compression you are feeling with this head has to do with that power management system, which is meant to emulate a bit of the 'give' of a tube amp, and is always there. There are no modification options for that, it is just the nature of the amp... very different from the more bright, upper mid present, quick attack of some of the other micro's. I kind of dig that bit of chewiness in the feel of this amp, but can understand that would not be for everyone.
Regarding the compressor itself, it seems to me when it is dialed off, it really is 'off'.
