TC Electronic RH750 ???!??

:) Just had to check out that tubetone thing...;)

Initial impression is very good, and also confirms that the RH750 is the right choice for me. Not because of extra watts, but because of the tweetertone. As we all know, the feature set is amazing. In my case this rig also means a significant reduction in both bulk and weight. Nothing to dislike so far. :)

Yes! I was neither interested in the more wattage. The tweetertone is a reason that I sold RH450 and I'm getting my RH750 now. I'm going to get mine probably the end of this week... I can't wait for that! :hyper:

I just did recording session where there was a U5 and we used my Rh450 DI anyway. It is really a marvelous DI and in this case I wanted some tubetone and a little eq that the RH450 offers. best recorded tone I have ever produced by far. At a different sessions in a different studio, I used the pre-setting my DI and it was as quiet as a church mouse, giving a very flat baseline tone for the engineer to work with, and then we miked the cab for the colored tone.

If you dive into the rh450 thread youwill find many have similar experiences that when doing professional recording, the rh450 really delivers. Soundmen and engineers really like TC products and are familiar with them, so you don't get a wry look when you ask to use the rh450 DI. It hasn't let me down yet!

Yup, that's what I found over the rh450 thread. There are so many positive feedbacks about the built in DI of the RH450. That's amazing to see such an internal DI to have that positive recognition and it makes me really wondering how good it is to compare with big named DIs like the U5....

Thank's...
I play actually on a Tecamp Bad Bull + Tecamp 810 + SWR M² and I love my sound.
I need a little amp and I hope to find a few of I like of my first set, perhaps the RH750 will be more easy for that with his modularity. With the Tecamp I have a phenomenal punch (but all is phenomenal in this amp) ...

thank's Greg, in France ... the RH750 begin just to arrive... .

WOW, I just read the specs on the TecAmp Bad Bull while reading this thread, that's one serious amp! I would love to hear your comparison between the Bad Bull and the RH750.

Great thing about the TC amps is the very simplistic to use/great sounding compressor. It is fantastic to have that onboard.

That's true. I leave spectracomp on at about 9 or 10 oclock pretty much all the time. I find that it really helps the G and D strings notes not get lost in upper regesters while keeping the B string notes from overwhelming the low end. Excellent!

I've not compared the U5 to the RH450's DI directly, but I've used both often live and for recording. I've gotten great tones and fuss-free signals from both. The U5 I only use with the EQ off as all those settings are too extreme for me. Flat, the U5 sounds wonderful and has a lot of warm complexity in the mids. That's pretty much lost at a gig unless you are using in-ears. Recording, the U5 sounds great also, which is it's strength IMO. The RH450's DI has been loved by many engineers I've worked with, and I've never once heard a negative comment or been asked to use somthing else. Recording, it's pristine and warm. Never a bit of noise with the RH450.

I appreciate your input! My RH750 is arriving tomorrow! I'm so excited! :hyper::hyper:

With all the talk of different cabs...seems like a 4x10 on a 2x12 would be a killer rig. Biggish. Nobody has mentioned that combo of cabs. Any thoughts?

Not specifically these cabs, but the same potential for phasing problems with any such mismatching, and the same dispersion issues for side-by-side speaker arrangements. Try before you buy, and if you can't, and can't afford a mistake, buy matching cabs and stack 'em vertically.

Rather annoyingly my RH750 fan makes a very weird rattling/scraping noise, so yet again looks like I'm going to have a replacement. Happened 2-3 secs after turning it on for first time. Stops if you pick it up and move it around in certain positions, but comes back. Happens on all surfaces, including carpet.

Just back in from my first gig with the RH750. Master at ten o'clock, and killer, killer sound onstage. Loud, clear and just great.

Had a buddy listening, and he said it was the best bass sound he's ever heard. Used the DI out on the RH750, pre EQ.

I'm happy. :)

Wow, talk about a string of bad luck. I hope you get this all worked out soon.

Just got my rh750 yesterday--I'll be spending some time fooling around with it today. It's going up against my old rig, a 1996 Eden Navigator paired with a Crown xti1000 power amp. The Eden rig sounds good but is heavy and I've been playing the Nav for 15 years. The rh750 has a lot going for it--I can't wait to put it through it's paces.

Yeah, I have spent some time with my new RH750! The tone tweeter function was what I liked and it didn't make me disappointed at all! I this filter makes the tone from rolled off vintage tone to high frequency emphasized sharp tone.

Tonetweeter function reminds me of the Mark Bass's VLE VLF knobs and I prefer the Tonetweeter function to them because I have an extended access to treble side. If my memory served correct, VLE VLF function only cut the tone and they don't boost but the tone tweeter function does both of boost and cut.

However, I could be wrong since it's been a while that I had my LMIII. I ordered F500 and it's coming on Monday. I will do some comparison between VLE/VLF and the tone tweeter function when I get the new toy!

DId I mention that the spectra comp is really easy and its does a really good job? Man, I'm impressed! I like my compressore's lots of control but I love extremely easy and perfect control of RH750 in compressor department. This thing makes the bassamp truly awesome! I haven't try the DI yet but I will try one on Sunday.

My very quick first impressions, based on very little playing, are the following:

Where the Eden set flat is very bold and strong, the RH750 sounds a bit reserved and dark--when set flat. See below for more.

The compressor on the RH750 is very nice indeed--I hardly notice it unless I'm really squashing everything.

The TubeTone is a nice sound--I really like being able to add just a bit of grit to my tone and this control does it nicely. It'll also way overdrive it if I want (Which I usually don't).

So about the tone: Like I said above, the 750 sounds very dark compared to the eden. But the tweetertone knob helps open that up, if I crank it. And the treble has the frequency band in it that needs adjusting for my ear. I really like the eq, it seems to have been done fairly well, although I could stand to hear a bit narrower a Q on the frequency selectors, but overall I'm impressed. And I like having three places to store sounds--it gives me my MusicMan Stingray sound, my fretless tone, and room for one more.

Lastly--this thing is one LOUD little head. I have to say I'm very impressed with its volume capabiliies. I'll push it more in the weeks ahead, but my initial volume test was more than satisfactory :).
