Here's a slightly different take on Eublets' great advice:
What works best for me is to drop the low freq to minimum (around 70hz) and cut a few clicks, taking out some rumbling lows.
Then I do the BIA thing, boost, isolate, adjust
with the low mids to bring back some fatness and punch. For me this usually ends up being around 140 to 180 hz (5 or 6 clicks below center). I don't isolate by boosting all the way to the max because it sounds a little overbearing and artificial when looking for a good frequency, if you're looking for an offending frequency boosting to the max is great.
I think this kind of EQ'ing is best done at moderate to loud levels otherwise it doesn't really give you a realistic picture of your tone.
Another trick with the RH amps to tame the lows a tad is to use just one or two clicks of tubetone. Try it at band level volume and you might be surprised at the change in voicing only one click can do!
