Well, I got the email that I wasn't chosen. But joy of joys...if I buy a head, I can get a free footswitch!

You know what? Now I AM mad. And this is for real. It's bad enough not to get chosen...now they're going to spam me with some lame free footswitch offer if I buy a head? Yeah, there's incentive. I hope you guys are reading this at TC...bite me with your lame footswitch.

Even though you say you are mad now, your previous week attempt at sarcasm makes me suspicious at this claim. If this has got you really pissed then you have other problems then wanting to play with a new basshead.

Sense of entitlement??? HOW DARE YOU!!!

:D

No, it's more of a sense of hating being given some lame coupon for a $3 footswitch that I can't even get without spending a grand on one of their products, and this is supposed to be some sort of consolation prize that I should be happy about.

And yeah, I'd be less than honest if I said it didn't bother me that people who do lower profile gigs than I do are getting amps and I'm not. Sorry that I'm human.

I don't know that it was about how high profile your gigs are....I think that would lend itself more to an endorsement, not a testing/commenting situation?

I honestly think I got picked because in my email I said I was a dedicated Ampeg man.

Not that this helps you out in anyway, but it's actually a $150 footswitch. Maybe you can buy the head to get the free footswitch, then return the head and sell the FS for $75 and go buy yourself some strings.

HAH! Yeah, that would fix 'em!

So they say it's a $150 footswitch, but like most footwsitches, it's assembled from $3 worth of parts. I might be exaggerating with the $3, but no footswitch is worth $150.

If it's any consolation, I didn't get picked either. Not that I expected to but yes, it IS disappointing! However it's no real loss. I'm very happy with the sound I get from my rig. I am still considering lightening the rig as my age increases but that can simply be done with a change of poweramp to a lightweight.

As to TC, if they want to sell me an amplifier that needs a foot switch it had better damn well come with it!!! Not to do so is nickel and dime stuff that no reputable manufacturer should do to their customers.

I honestly think that this endevour has put back TC's reputation quite a bit. To tell thousands of bass players around the world that they are not good enough to warrant an in home trial of a new piece of equipment is not, IMO, a clever marketing ploy. Me, I have completely lost interest in this new Rebel and TC can go to hell in a handbasket!!!

Paul

Sounds like you are enjoying a very cool career.
Are you allowed to mention other artists you work with?
Sure...I work with folks like Gary US Bonds, Freddy Cannon, Lou Christie, The Tokens, Lesley Gore, Tommy Roe, Shirley Alston Reeves from the Shirelles, Ron Dante from the Archies, Gary Puckett, Joey Dee...the list goes on and on. But I guess that's not good enough for TC. After all, they're the biggest name in bass amplification :hmm:

Paul, you are right. This has been a gigantic blunder on their part. With one fell swoop, they've managed to bring the interest level of thousands of bass players from 60 to, in the words of the late John Vernon in Animal House...

ZERO...POINT...ZERO!

Good going, TC!

+1
Im never going to buy more tc stuff..I FEEL INSULTED

I do want to add that I'm happy for those of you who got picked. Certainly there's something in your background that makes you better than the rest of us, so enjoy it and use it in good health, and I hope TC doesn't make you eat shipping when you decide to return it after 90 days.

They should have run it as a lottery, which is what it is, as opposed to a 'selection'.The criteria is mysterious.

I didn't get picked either, and not that I do not have any bass gear for my reaction to be sour grapes ... I have loads of stuff but was honestly piqued to want to check it out, but not getting picked for a trial? pffft.. just like you lost interest in this completely.

Cool gigs.....must be great energy :hyper:

Sorry guys, but I don't quite get it... so you're feeling insulted every time you don't get the job you've been interviewed/applying for; the girl, you really cared for, has chosen other one... or, if you take it ad-absurdum, you do not win in lottery, because given the amount of people applied (at least I suppose there was quite a lot of them), the odds to get it for review weren't that much higher.
If so, you should also feel insulted, that other companies did not even ask you to send them your resume and start a trial program... let's rant for example Markbass of Genz-Benz they wouldn't let us try they new lines before they hit the production and don't ask us for our opinion :). Yeah, let's have a fun.
I guess you should take it easy and get over it (but you'd probably do it, if you could, right? :))

ditto.

must just be a West Coast logic of ours ogar...

:smug:

EXACTLY!!!! Thank you for crystallizing my thoughts in a succinct way. I signed up to win a Hartke Victor Wooten rig, too. But that's a drawing, so if I lose it, it's just luck...no harm done. This was a concerted effort to find bass players who were impressive enough to warrant a trial, and we had to impress them into thinking we were good enough to warrant a trial. So now we've been informed that we're not good enough, so if I'm not good enough to try their stuff out, I'm certainly not good enough to buy it. And I won't.

In all reality, I shouldn't have even bothered entering. I don't jump through hoops for anyone for free gear, let alone some tiny company in Sweden who just entered the bass amp field. They should be impressing us, not the other way around. Well, after this fiasco I won't have to worry about it anymore, because there isn't a company on earth who be stupid enough to repeat this giant publicity disaster.
