TC Electronics RebelHead 450 - Rebel with a Cause

I'm starting to bum. I have heard that other players have already been notified that they're in the test program. Meanwhile I play with the biggest names in 50's-60's music and I all I got was an automatic response thanking me for applying, then nothing while other people are getting notified of their acceptance. Well sorry I'm not as relevant as some metal kid nobody ever heard of on Myspace or some plinky tinky slappy tappy clinic guy.

I'm just going to quit mentioning any new gear I like on these boards. I get on these boards and talk about gear I like, and I know I've sold more than a few items I talk about to people on here and other sites. But will anyone send me any free stuff? No. Out of all the gear I've bought and mentioned how much I like (which has definitely translated into sales), only Upton Bass has been kind enough to send me a pickup for free. Hell, I don't even get offered limited endorsements, which are basically opportunities to buy stuff at slightly lower prices than stores offer it. So no more...you want me to blab about products I like on here? Start making with the bennies!

I feel for you, Jimmy.

But I hope you will continue to let us know what products work well for you. It may not bring you free stuff, but for those of us who can't try everything (due to demographics or economics), we sure appreciate learning from the rest of you, you know?

Well, we'll see what happens. But as it stands, no more. It does me no good.

I will, however, exempt Genz Benz from my anger. I don't have any of their products, but I think I will as soon as I'm in the market again. They make wonderful products and they're super nice guys who have gone out of their way to be nice to me even though I'm not a customer yet.

Having read through the posts and watched all the TC Electronics videos more than once, I have a question still.

It appears that the presets preset only the EQ and the tube tone and not the compression. Is that your guys' understanding as well?

I really hope that is wrong, 'cause it is probably a deal breaker for me if I can't lock in a compression level in a preset as well.

I'm glad others on this board don't have the same attitude. We'd never learn about anything. :(

Hmm... I would've thought that any company marketing a new type of bass amp would be eager to sound-board it with more experienced cats whose feedback would help the company to ensure its amp passed muster with every segment of a very competitive market--especially with that bread & butter demographic of discriminating players who have the desire - and the dough - to buy light-weight rigs.

IMHO, you are probably not in their target market. Let's face it, you have posted a lot of pictures of your B15N (not that I am jealous :atoz: ) and I would expect Ampeg users to be at the opposite end of the spectrum from RebelHead users ;)

Just a thought.... don't give up on your fellow TBers!

I hear you Jimmy. Other then the automated response, I haven't received an answer either. I'm the purchasing manager for the bass department at a music store. I also give lessons, gig, record, etc. I thought I was a perfect candidate..guess not.

Wow, I don't know you Jimmy from anywhere other than this board, but isn't getting an endorsement a bigger endeavor other than just posting alot on a Forum? I certainly wouldn't expect anything from anyone unless I actually called a company and spoke with their Artist Rep about possible endorsement deals. Most companies have more than enough of those already, and are very, very selective about who they give free gear to. Have you actually tried to get endorsements the normal way? TC was not asking for people to endorse their product, they were looking for free testers, totally different deal.

If you are as pro as you say, I can't imagine you couldn't find an endorsement or two. Go to NAMM and start making contacts. I have a neighbor who is a guitar teacher and he is endorsed by Nady, Tech 21, ESP, Seymour Duncan, etc. He goes to NAMM every year and meets people face to face, he releases CDs every year, etc. I've talked to him, it's a lot of work and time to build those relationships.

I'd cut TC some slack, and all of us too, and try to get some endorsements if you can. The TC selected players will likely have to give all their gear back after a set amount of time. A true endorsement usually means you keep the goods. Go for that one if you can.

LOL! Wow, now I feel bad...some of the things you guys said were real nice...so now I feel bad that I was just yanking everyone ;)

Actually, I don't care if I get endorsements or not. I never really tried for them, and I'm certainly not going to beg for them, or spend $500 putting together promo packs for them. Free strings would be cool ;) , but I like having my gear independence. I just thought I"d mix it up a little and see what happens.

Sean, I may play out B-15's most of the time, but I also own a M******* head, so it's not like I'm against the idea :p :D

OK, Bowzer's 37th, but I've also played gigs with numbers 1, 5, and 9-36, as well as a great many below 37th. And a handful of them are dead now, so that just adds to my lustre ;)
