Grabbed an RH450 and RS210 between Christmas and New Years ("Boxing Day" sales here in Canada). Fantastic small rig, really liking it!

The cab was a bit boomy on the floor in my studio (floating floor) but sounded amazing/balanced at a friends studio/rehearsal space (carpet on concrete). I had to dial back off some of the high mid and high eq needed to compensate at home.

The good news is there more than enough flexibility and range in the eq to clean it up. Even easier is to get it up off the floor in a boomy situation (well duh:eyebrow:)

Welcome, Eddie. I don't know if you've seen any of the comments here, but the Gramma isolator works fantastic in those "boomy" situations, usually without having to modify the EQ settings. Well worth the price IMO.

Thx for the replies guys. I'd read the comments about the Auralex and I'll probably get one.

Thats a good price with the bag Donovan BUT it has to get to Canada which means brokerage & shipping fees. I'm going to see what I can find around the Toronto area. If the $$ is ridiculous locally I'll send you a msg.

Back to the RH450: I've been a long time GK fan with a 1st generation MB150E thats still going strong (must have got a good one;)). Most of my work in the last decade or so has been in my studio and I've gotten some great BIG sounds going direct out of that little amp, BUT I'm getting back into live playing and wanted something that could hold up to a band.

We've used TC Electronic stuff in the studio for ages and it's always been sturdy, thoughtful gear that's never quit on us, so when I went looking for an amp it was near the top of my list to try. I found a local shop that let me try every conceivable cabinet combination including a beautiful Bergantino 410($$$) and I went home with the 450 & RS210.

The use of established hardware (like using rotary encoders, that have been used in DAW controllers and digital consoles for ages, instead of pots) in a new application is really one of those "why didn't anybody do this before" ideas that just makes sense. As does the built in tuner and 3 memory buttons.

I got a chance to sit in with a friends band at rehearsal and the RH450 RS210 combination sounded really REALLY good. Tight focused low end without a hint of BLAT or FLUB and more than enough highs for definition and sizzle. Seemed to sit very well under keyboards and a fairly loud guitarist.

My friend used it with his MM Sterling the rest of the rehearsal and that sounded great too. I was playing a Fender Reggie Hamilton Jazz(hmmm another "RH") and the RH let the character of each bass come through quite well.

aside: I think the Reg Hamilton Standard is a fabulous deal. Mim but with an American Standard P p/u and custom noiseless Jazz p/u + the hipshot drop D tuner. I think it's one of the only Fender basses that can switch the 18v p/u's to passive mode too. Precision sounds, jazz sounds, some great in between sounds or flick the switch for old school passive tones.

String height and intonation were spot on and she looks great! (3 colour sunburst + 4 ply tortoise shell guard):cool:

Anyway, I couldn't be happier with this amp/cab and all the adjectives I keep reading here are true: organic, punchy, warm, tight, clear etc..

I just picked one up yesterday :hyper: and will be using it on my gigs tonight and tomorrow. So far, at home, it sounds killer through my Berg HT and EX 112 cabs. I made some presets as best I could, I'm sure I'll be tweaking those somewhat after getting more time on it. Got the footswitch and the gig bag too, Eddie at Bass NW hooked me up real good.

It really is louder than I expected, and I'm accustomed to a preamp/poweramp setup with 1500 or so watts of headroom.

I can't wait to join this club!

But I have to wait until my current rig is sold first. I recently placed an add on my local craigslist and had my hopes up thinking it would be sold by now, but still not even a nibble. Times are tough I guess. Club Bass in Toronto has a really great sale that ends soon so I hope I can get an RH450 with a 212 before then.
