It's sort of the opposite of Preshape 1; where Pre 1 is a mids-cut and emphasis on deep and high freq's, Pre 2 is more low/mids oriented. From the SMX Line manual:
"...a more ROCK orientated PRE SHAPE with solid bottom end and more mid than SHAPE 1."

There is access somewhere to the actual frequencies in the curves, but I don't have that handy. B.A.S. might be able to help out with it. You could also look over at "Basschat.co.uk" and look around. Some ex-Trace employees hang there.

Perhaps some patience, a stiff 6" taping knife and a little denatured alcohol? Do it outside if you use denatured alcohol...

Just recently bought a 1153 to go with my existing 410 and Series 6 GP12 (AH200). Slightly ropey picture, damn flash.
£100 for the 1153 was a bargain!
Not actually sure the 410 is a trace now, but whatevs.
Would love to know where the front grill for the 410 went :rolleyes:

Hey man, the head and that nicely-scored 1153 will handle any of the gigs in your locality with relative ease, I believe- lots of small / mid-sized rooms, yes? That's potent stuff there! I'm one of the happy few around here who realize the under-rated aspect of the old Trace Elliot gear...

yes, lots of pubs. I wonder if having the 410 elevated like that makes a different though. It was v echoey in there so it's hard to tell. Needless to say I didn't take the volume past 2. I didn't need to. lol

THis is true! They are loud for the power rating. I've played out door gigs with my BLX combo, and my wife heard me from about 5 blocks away! That was with the single 10" speaker.

Now it use the head with this cab, and it's always louder than I need, and only rated 150watts. And that would be with a second cab.

You can see that I have the master volume at 10:00.

Pub gigs don't need such firepower. I'd sell the 4x10 now and wait to snaffle another 1153.

If you do need big firepower put the 1153 on top so you can hear it best. Some 4x10 will handle more abuse than the 1153 before farty bad noise comes out. I don't know what that one is either, definitely not a Trace.

Hah! A BLX 5 blocks away... looks so unlikely- but I don't doubt it.

I just snagged a 150w Commando, and one drummer I play with loves it- says he can finally hear me now. I've only played one gig with it, I expect I'll hear more good remarks the next couple weeks.

And I'm with Downunder'- another 1153 will surface-- just be ready and snare it up! 2 of those with your head and, well, you may want more power, for some reason... but you certainly won't need it. :cool: Really.

I think Line-Out has always meant just that. I'm pretty certain it won't blow up anything; your sound card has a Line-In just for that kind of signal. Just start with your input volume all the way down...

I think the genre profile for gear is mostly an ill-conceived idea. Using a 100-watt boutique combo-wedge for stoner metal is probably not a great fit, but if power is adequate and you like the sound of something, then play what you want to play through it.

As a rec, I'd recommend the 1048 if you want, punchy, pretty danged articulate, impressively deep-sounding bass notes. And those Trace cabs are Trace-rated, meaning the numbers for power handling are as conservative as the numbers for their amplifiers.

Through a good powerful amp with a pick, well, that's what they'll sound like. Go for it man. You know you want to... :smug:

I'm just very interested in this cab because there's very little info about it anywhere and it's hard to find some sound clips of it.

I'm thinking about either the 1048h or the GK 212 neo.
None of those two are available to try out in my local shops so I think I'll just go for one based on opinios of other players.

That's why I want to geather as much info as possible about the 1048h, because I've got pretty much info about the GK212 neo.

The 1048 is heavier than the GK. :p And it has more cone-surface area than the 212, so it moves more air I guess...
