Team Trace Elliot! Part II

Hi everyone!

After a long hiatus from playing, I'm dusting off the chops and working on putting a rig back together. Which of course means getting some Trace gear again (used to play out with a combo and loved it). I found a killer deal on a beat up 210 I'm going to restore. The original Celestion drivers need the spiders reglued. Does anyone here have a recommendation on a specific glue to use? I've heard epoxy, Elmers, CA glue, Balsa wood glue (?).. along with some rather exotic stuff. Hopefully I can use something readily available...

I'm going to post a thread detailing the restoration of the cab once it gets started. Can't wait!

Thanks! TB rocks!

Thanks! I'm still unsure about how I'm going to recover it. I'm the weird guy that actually likes carpet over the tolex. But it's going to be a budget rebuild, and I might go with the Parts Express carpet (I might still go with tolex though, who knows...). Too bad the real Trace carpet is so dreadfully expensive.

I still need to date it.. I'm pretty sure it's pre-Gibson. When I get it in hand, I'll post pics. Wait till you see this thing.. let's just say gray latex paint, and purple grille. :hmm:

Eh grey what and purple who?
Sacrilege !!! OH! the nerve of some people :eyebrow:
Hope you set that right...:D

Actually that price on the carpet is about 50 less than if you ordered it from Britishaudioservice.com

I prefer the carpet over Tolex myself, as well. But, I did see a cool LT blue Tolex covered rig that looked pretty good.

Both of my AH1200SMs are GP7 types and my AH600-12 all have a tube preamp in them. The Ah1200SMs do not have a "blend" control but, I believe that's what the "GAIN" control does is adjust the input level to the tube. The active passive switch or dual inputs control input voltage from the bass so as to not over saturate the preamp section.
The AH600-12 has a blend control, however.

But the sound you -as you were - he described sounds like what a tube sounds like when it burns up. I know that sound very well as I have burned tubes up in linear amplifiers many times.
I am not saying that IS what happened to you, just what it sounds like to me in my opinion.

Hi, your reply makes me think that maybe my amp is not an AH250 though...
the front plate looks exactely like the one (bottom side) in the attached picture.
In the back it's written 7210 H. Which makes me think that i misinterpreted the data.
I will post pics of the electronics inside the head, and there's no tube inside :)

Ciao,
Sergio.

Does it not say "AH200xxx" on the back by the serial number?

@Downunderwonder.. You are correct, Sir!
The preamp tube is in the front left corner on the PC Board behind the inputs on that model.
So, it's not like my AH1200SM where it is in the back by the speaker jacks...
which you can't see in this pic but, you can see that it is not in the front like yours.
notice the 2 massive 1200 watt pep amps on the left...:hyper:
Which is why they are side vented with a fan. btw... the AH1200SMX has the tube in the front like yours...

this one is not my pic, I stole it.... but looking at this, I wonder if I can take the GP12SMX front end (face and EQ section) and swap for my GP7SM... Tangent alert!!:D

Ciao,

So, do you have a 7210H or an AH200SM... what did I miss here?

I opened mine up earlier this evening...no tube that I could see. I'll post pics tomorrow.
GP7SM 130 out of a combo amp..--- Huh, figures you can't see behind the inputs but, I don't think there is a tube there anyway.
