It may be obvious but I just want to make sure: when using your amp head (mine is a GP7SM250) as a D.I. in a recording, do you need to have your cab plugged in like you would normally do with a tube amp or can you use it without a cab?

Thanks! Saving my ass like always.

Update!

I've recently killed my main project (in wich I played guitar) and I'm now officialy more of a bassist than a guitarist bandwise. Since the last couple of week, I've been experiencing bi-amping stereo rig, basically one amp for clean low and high-end and one for distortion/grit/thrash sound. Here's a recent picture of my rig:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Signal A: Ibanez SR305 -> BYOC's Stereo Amp Selector -> Trace Elliott AH400 -> Trace Elliott 1048H Cab
Signal B: Ibanez SR305 -> BYOC's Stereo Amp Selector -> SansAmp BDDI -> Behringer 10 bands EQ -> Traynor Bassmaster 50 -> Peavey Triple XXX 4x12" Cab

Yup, you read that right. Bass through bass amp through guitar cabinet. I'm running signal B with little to no bass in the EQ, mainly focusing on the high mid frequencies. I'm planning to get a second bass cab to replace the Peavey, but so far, I like the results.

Now shopping for a new bass....

anyone familiar with the foot pedals? I recently grabbed a nice EQ pedal and it runs on 18v but did not come with the adapter. I have heard comments about the polarity being different. How do I wire it to my Dunlop brick to make it work right?

There was a TE comp pedal on ad here recently, but without the AC adaptor. I asked about a comparable adapter in the ad's thread and someone (can't remember who offhand) said that (IIRC) Godlyke has a reverse-polarity wire/plug adapter that would power the pedal from a standard 9V/18V power supply. Note that it was also mentioned that the TE pedal has an oddball plug size, and that a standard Boss-type plug wouldn't fit...dunno if your EQ is the same way, but it might be.

- EDIT - I just found a TE 18V power supply @ British Audio Service...I'd check with them to be sure that it will power your EQ, tho.
