Tech 21 Leeds bass demo

My VT Bass has been modded with a speaker simulation bypass. For clean sounds, I think it sounds quite a bit better without the low pass filter in the circuit. I'm definitely curious to know if the new series of character pedals use the same PCB layout.

So I threw together a quick clip of the Leeds pedal since I know a bunch of you guys were wanting to hear how it sounds. I used a Fender American Standard Jazz into a TC Electronics Staccato '51 w/ two RS112 cabs. I used an Edirol R09 to capture the sound. I know it's a bit sloppy but I figured it would at least give you an idea of what this pedal can do. I had the drive knob at about noon and the character knob at 1. If I get time before NAMM I might do a pick style clip.

First time I've heard these pedals, and I must say, they sound pretty nice. One thing I noticed, the US Steel pedal, from :47 to 1:00, sounded to me just like Alex Lifeson's modern-day Gibson LP tone.

It may be just my ears, but the JAE tone you recreate reminds me more of the last rig he used (with his Status bass) rather than the LAL tones. Similar to what you hear in The Amazing Journey vid.

well obviously it's not going to sound identical to entwistle back then. but it does sound like a jazz through a hiwatt cranked.

I'm absolutely loving this Leeds pedal...It can get WAY more gnarly than what my clip shows.

I hope to record some more clips for the Leeds and also for the Oxford, which I picked up last week.

I got mine in Saturday and have had only a brief amount of time to mess around with it.
I will say that my first impression is that it works better on guitar than bass.
But that opinion might change once I have a chance to work with it some more with my basses.

Had my guitarist in our Who tribute band use it at rehearsal this weekend and it definately put him more into LAL sonic territory than where he had been before.
