VT = awesome.
A decent example of the tone of the pedal. Geddy Jazz w/ DiMarzio's > VT > Power Amp > SVT cab. I thought I was all clandestine and secretive about a great new discovery when it came out, but it turns out TONS of people were and are down with it. It's some hot s&*t, that little pedal.
Best,

a seeminlgy stupid question.
When i first had my VT i put it at the end of my Chain straight into the effects return to using it as a pre amp. Then i put it into the input of my amp to take advantage of the mute facility on the amp. I read the manual and moved it ino tthe middle of my chain as per the instructions so the Compression and od were before and flanger and Delay after it.
My question is can i still use it as a pre in this position? I tried it in the effect return and it worked albeit that i had to increase the level a bit to get similair output when it was on the end of my chain.
If i use it as my pre does it have to go at the end?
Thanks in advance
i think if i use it as a pre i'll just re arrange my signal chain and put it on the end. Luckily my Shuttle is really quite hifi and has a mute i like to use, so same as you i feed it into the input. It was just a what if questionIt depends on your amp really. If your fx loop runs at line level, then you need quite a hot signal going into it. If you boost the volume on the VT too much, it will distort the pedals coming after it. However, some amps seem to work fine with an instrument level signal going into the FX return (I've used a few Trace Elliots at practice rooms in this way no problem). Your other option is to add an extra clean boost pedal at the end of your chain to drive your signal up to line level. I went down this route at first, but then decided to just get a new amp that has a flat uncoloured tone so I could just feed it a regular signal yet still have the amp's EQ available if I needed it. First had an iAmp 350 combo, but am now using a Markbass CMD121P which I'm very happy with!
