Based on some settings JimmyM posted some time ago, I typically run this for DI only gigs:

Level: unity
Mid: 230
Character: off (more SVT) or 1100 (more B15)
Drive: 900
Low: 1200
High: 900

Level = Wherever the meat of the "on" tone sounds as full as the meat of the "off" tone
Low = Noon (maybe 1-2 on certain pickup settings that cut low end)
Mid = 9:00
High = Noon
Drive = 10:00 - 11:00, depending on how hot the signal from the bass is
Character = 3:00 (hence the 9:00 mids)

These settings give you a thick tubey vintage sound with certain levels of overdrive depending on how hard you dig in. Sounds like a bass version of a tube guitar amp. Great for rounds or flats, pick or fingerstyle. Also sounds great for guitar should you need to play guitar through your bass rig.

I'm starting to like the idea of mods-- thinking about doing the SWR Aural Enhancer Mod and now a VT rackmount-- but I don't want to get used to this... next thing you know I'll start ordering outside the menu at restaurants. Slippery slope.

Level = Usually at 12 but I adjust as needed
Low = 2:00
Mid = 2:00
High = 11:00
Drive = 10:00 - 11:00, depending on which bass I'm using.
Character = 11:00

Gives me a really pucnhy bass tone, still experiementing.

ebmm sterling- treble and mid flat, bass boosted to about 8 (out of 10)

cuts like a knife, VT always on. best 149$ i've ever spent.

also dirt pedals sound AWESOME going into the VT

For me, having a visual is a lot faster to read and set than the clock reference. Thanks to everyone for the submissions. This really helped me explore this unit.

When people use times to describe knob settings, it means that it is pointing the same direction as the hour hand on a clock set to that time. Thus, noon is straight up, 7:00 is all the way down, 3:00 is straight to the right, etc.

Yeah I get all that. Its just the 10.30 setting that has confused me!!

It means you set it where the hour hand would be on a clock that says 10:30.

bass = 12:30
mid = 9:30 / 10:00
high = 8:00
character = 2:00
drive = 10:30 / 11:00

it keeps amazing me how small increments make a big difference

OK, I have had the VT Deluxe for a year now, it has been on about a dozen gigs and a bunch of rehersals and practices. I figured if anyone cares they can check out if any of the sounds I have could be put to good use. Otherwise I figured this would be a perfect place to put my settings out incase I ever lose my hand written notes. \m/
