Telescopic pedalboard?

Seems there's a new trend coming in pedalboard design. Have been using the same pedaltrain board for a few years and hadn't really considered using anything else because I feel like the pedaltrain board gets the job done. But this definitely caught my eye. Kind of curious about bag/case issues though. I do like to transport my board in some type of case. I wonder if they'll make a telescopic case for them as well. That would be pretty cool.

I don't get the point... if you have a pedalboard with it extended and all the pedals on it, are you meant to take them off and then put the board back in?

I think it's more about being able to upsize or downsize without having to scrap the board or deal with a lot of empty space.

Ok.... not sure what the market is cos from all the threads I've seen people are either one or the other hah ( upsize, downsize, or in between and just Tetris like mad like me!)

I don't buy boards, but if I did I'd look into this. It allows you to load up while sorting the board and then shrink it back down when you purge the least used. That's way better than looking at that GAS inducing hole in your board .

Seems like it's for people who want to tinker a lot. Can't say I'm convinced on its practicality.

Here's D'addario's link. They'll have a case with adjustable dividers. I don't know how good it will be, but they'll be making one.

How many of us have said something akin to...

"I have an empty space on my pedalboard that I need to fill or my Tetris mojo will be forever misaligned!!!"

Search the threads around here - it's a familiar idea. I think these folks are a key part of the target audience.

I have a new Holeyboard 123 that uses this method. I have to say that the design sorta sucks. The pedalboard bends in the middle if you telescope it too much. I've since split it into two boards which works much better for me. This D'Adarrio design seems to be a little more robust. Telescoping is great for expanding your board. It's just the tech is being developed now and there will be bugs in it.

Just read more about the Daddario XPND. I'll be buying a small one. Seems to be much more a robust design than the Holeyboard 123. Plus i think after all is said and done, painters tape and velcro is the easiest and best solution. These zip ties just seem weak and also too tight for the paint on my pedals.

I use a Digitech Drop pedal on some wedding gigs. When I have used it, I set it on the floor next to my pedal board. That works ok, but it would be nice to have a temporary spot for it.

Just saw this yesterday. Seems like a good idea for those who don't want several boards. I wonder how well it works in practice, though. I try not to be a Debbie Downer about new products but I can see the rails getting jammed and stuck after a while. Wonder what they're doing to prevent that.

My biggest concern is it will be flimsy and wobbly, like the telescoping handles on luggage bags. Needs to be strong enough to stomp on.

Yeah, definitely a concern. The adjustable feet, however, is a brilliant idea, and probably the best innovation on the whole thing. I hate wobbly-ass feet on my board.

It looks like it has feet on the base as well as on the sliding part, so as long as the fit at the junction is good it should be all right. No Idea how the fit at the junction will be.

I'll probably get one. I pre-ordered Morton for their expandability, but the way they're designed made it a PITA to mount a power supply.

If these are flat underneath, I'm in. I'm always switching up my board, and sometimes just need a couple pedals. Sometimes more.

Color me intrigued but I want to know more about the real-estate underneath for pedalboard power supplies. If a CIOKS DC7 fits underneath I'll be buying one of these.
