Our start-up band has been rehearsing on the same night of the week since we started it. We all know it and we discuss it at the end of each rehearsal. Even so, one member of the band will always text on the day of practice "Are we still practicing tonight?" We're all adults and all should know and remember about band practice. It bugs me that he keeps doing this. Why does it bug me so much and how can I get him to stop doing it?

(I know a lot of you don't rehearse but that isn't the topic here, okay?)

Sometimes people want to know if u up.

Maybe he got done wrong in a previous band and cancelled on at the last minute more than once. Maybe he has a bad memory. Maybe he is lonely.
"...A person characterized as anal-retentive is perceived as worrying excessively about "passing feces": little details of fecal consistency, color and aroma or as otherwise being overly uptight or distressed over ordinarily normal evacuation.

Today, however, the term is often used of anybody seen as overly worried about small details and unable to adopt a philosophical attitude toward mistakes. This metaphorical usage has become so commonplace that the somewhat graphic literal meaning of the phrase is often overlooked by those using it..."

This is your biggest problem ???
No, there are bigger ones.

I get the strangest feeling of Deja Vu
Me, too. I looked through my content files to see if I had started a thread like this before, and I couldn't find one.

Probably so he doesn't make a wasted trip only to find out practice is not happening.
I understand that, but it had already been discussed at the end of the previous rehearsal, and everyone knows it's the same night every week unless someone has to change it for some reason, at which time they will text about it.

then address it at practice, restate the conditions and get verbal confirmation of comprehension and compliance from that person

I always text the band/group to confirm because multiple times someone else forgot. I don't care if it bugs the others, it bothers me more when someone forgets about practice when a simple text would have saved a lot of everyone else's time.

As to why it bugs you, not sure but if that is the only thing you can complain about with your band, I'm envious... ;)

Good Luck!
