That pedal you cant kick off your board

So this is about "pedals I've tried to upgrade but for which there is nothing better"?

I guess the Digitech Bass Synth Wah. I have two or three other synth pedals (depending on how you define a "synth" pedal) but for certain specific sounds the BSW is the only one. Plus it's got a good octave function and makes a decent envelope filter. Apparently the Digitech Dirty Robot is supposed to be the replacement for the discontinued BSW, but I've heard it's just not the same.

I don't use those particular sounds as much these days, but when I do that's the only pedal for them.

I have 2 pedals that would survive all my endeavours, and be sure as hell that I'll use them in every band I am/will be... My octaver and chorus.

It's such a close one between the VT and Tone Hammer DI. I'd probably keep the VT. Tone Hammer has a better DI, more options but the VT's character knob with a touch of drive always gets me where I need to be. Works especially well to tame my active 5 string when I'm not using my Fenders.

DODs are highly underrated. Every board I own has at least one. I have two identical DOD boards since I love them so much, and they're so affordable.

It doesn't get much love on TB but, for me, it's EHX Bass Soul Food. I've bought lots of other ODs, still have several, still keep trying them, but the BSF sounds great with all of my basses, does a great low gain OD (exactly what I want, and it seems to me that a lot of those who trash it fault it for not doing heavier distortion or fuzz), and costs a lot less than the boutique-y or higher-end pedals I've tried.

Every time I rotate in one of my others to give them another shot, I go back to the BSF and am reminded that it simply does what I want it to do.

Mine would have to be my dirt pedals. They each fill a specific need beautifully. I have tried many newer pedals, or even upgraded versions of the same pedals, but these are just perfect for me. Haven't replaced a single one in almost 3 years!

Mine is my vt bass deluxe. No other pedal does my toneshaping and light/medium OD quite like it for my taste.(but theres still PLENTY to try haha)

So what's yours?

It was the blower box for me for the longest. Now it's the Rat Tail. It always seem to be a dirt box for me. It's like the B:ASSMASTER, I love that fuzz. But it's been off my board more than on. And I wont get rid of it. But The RT is the one that I've taken off to try other things and the RT always keeps going back on. I like my Blower Box more in some ways but the RT just has this way about it in the mix that I just can't not use it.

For me it has to be the Moog MF-101. It's big, and heavy, and a bit noisy at times, and has a bypass that sounds awesome, but I don't always want on. But nothing touches what it does. I've tried, even bought an Iron Ether Xerograph Dlx and its ALSO on my board. The Moog is worth the trouble.

I'm actually close to pulling the Tonehammer off. I think I have found a replacement that is more me. It's a fantastic pedal tho, so I likely won't sell it, just make room for something else.

For hard rock/metal, gotta use my Darkglass B7K (or B7K Ultra). Delivers the sizzle and growl I love. I leave it at low to moderate gain, and for extra crunch I kick in other pedals in front of it (which vary from gig to gig).

I don't have an unkickable pedal for other kinds of music: for that I rotate a bunch of overdrive/distortions.

Mine is a Morley power wah boost, not that I'm looking for something better but I just couldn't see myself getting rid of it, even if I didn't use it.
