Count another B600H sold, whenever they get here. Love the B200H, think that I would love the B600H even more, especially if it is just a "bigger" B200H.

Any word on the EQ or early pictures? Is it really just a beefed up B200H? Maybe Speakons? Pre/Post DI switch? I've already heard it's the same form factor...

There's an Acoustic 220 at a local used shop that I've been looking at.

I finally played it and the thing sounded fuzzy even at low (3-4) volumes.

I EQ'd it flat on the sliders and knobs, turned the bright off.

Never having really sat in front of one and played it, I was wondering if this fuzzy tone was actually the sound of the thing, or if it represented a problem bad (expensive) enough to throw a wrench into my purchasing plans.

I played it with the shop owner's modded, passive PJ-bass of unknown workmanship.

It's also been clearly abused. The sliders are all crazy bent. They still work but the look awful.

I want an acoustic really bad, but Im worried about buying something thats been neglected to the point where it has to be completely overhauled, thus negating all the mojo.

He has it listed at $300. I think that's high for its condition, but I may be wrong.

any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

It definitely should NOT be sounding fuzzy at low volumes like that, sounds like it's in need of a major overhaul. And $300 is too much to ask for an amp that is just barely functional.

However, for about $250 you can get the brand new B200H head that sounds amazing and not have to worry about overhauling.

I just saw info. on the "B200" thread here that GC has already released the B600H!!! :eyebrow:I guess we'll see for sure, I thought that was supposed to happen sometime in October, maybe the guy meant "annoucement release" or something. I'll let you know if I see/buy one:hyper:at an actual GC store.

I read that up here as well but can't find any info that the writer was referring to. Could be a hoax :)

I was seriously looking at an older acoustic bass head but felt compelled to go the preamp/poweramp direction(weight and reliability being factors)..but am interested in the newer qcoustics, particularly this b600h...

Anyone try the new b200h and compare the tone to an old head like a 370? I know tone is in the player and the bass, but I would love to hear anecdotal comparisons of old tone vs new..

Are the new cabinets good quality as well? Can they handle the massive wattage of the old cabs?

I would say that the cabinets are good for what they are, budget cabinets. They are priced accordingly. The 115 is a good sounding cabinet, especially for being a) new with warranty and b) $199. I'm used to cabinets in the $500-$1000 range. These won't beat them, but I wouldn't expect them too. They certainly aren't Bergantinos... :)

They do, on the other hand, give me a pleasing sound that I like...and I really don't have to worry about them getting damaged...

If they fail due to worksmanship, I've got the warranty (3 years). If they fail due to something else (like a liquid spill or careless bandmate/audience member), I can replace it without crying.

I've never played the old Acoustic cabinets, so I couldn't say anything there.

thesteve is correct. Also it has one fuzz channel the includes reverb and tremolo. On the clean channel there is a tuning fork feature (not sure which other models have this), which can create very theremin like sounds. Despite being marketed for guitar and the cab being only 12" deep, I think it sounds better for bass then it does for guitar.

Just FYI,

Despite some previous posts on this forum. I got a response back from the good folks at Acoustic Amplification themselves. He stated that the B600H has in fact not yet been released and that they should be hitting GC stores 11-01 or maybe a few days sooner. We'll see....or better yet...hear! How could we not hear? I'm mean that thing will have to be a monster. I'm hoping they roll out some more speaker cabs to go with it...I would think it would rip the cones flat out of the ones they offer for the B200H. I believe the current B410 cabinet is rated 400W at 8 ohms. Just my guess, being that the B600H output will be 450W at 4 ohms and 600W at 2 ohms.:eek: And if it is in fact anything like the B200H, they will be "Old School" Watts. :D :D

The 360 preamp has the tuning fork feature as well.

I would expect an Acoustic 810 to roll out with the B600H. I've seen prototype pictures of it...somewhere...for the life of me I can't find it again. Maybe I still have it on the computer at home.
