I have a question for you guys and gals that are more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to amps.

I currently have an acoustic b100 combo (1st gen) and I would like increase volume, could I add a b115 ext cab, would this raise my vol or would I be splitting wattage, in turn lowering volume

the B100's runs 4ohms 100watts as is. it's extension output is a series jack, so if you connect a 8 ohm acoustic cab (like my b210neo) it raises the impedance & lowers watts. the result is a fuller, marginally louder sound because of more speaker area (plus it get's it up higher so you can hear it better). I used it like that once just to try it. I think it was designed that way so you can't go beyond minimum impedance and blow it up. I thought about getting a 15" 4ohm cab for mine, but just have no use for it. If I need loud, I just use a d.i. box and the B100 for monitor. My B100 is 5yrs old & gets used every week. Love it.

Hoping my B220 Wagner era head that's up on Eby brings a decent amount or at least what I have or close to have in it. Then on to finding / buying a 370 OR 270. Been chomping at the bit for a long time hear what a 370 or 270 will sound like with my 106. The 150 I have is super don't get me wrong, just need a little more ummph.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't buy used electronics though, just my own policy. I'm still looking into possibly repairing mine if it's not too expensive, as it is a nice little amp.

finally sold my Wagner era B220 head the other week also sold my B200 combo the other day and just yesterday....found / bought a 370! Super stoked to get this in hand (shipping out today) and run it through my 106. Out with the "new" in with the old. Guess the 150 will be getting a little much needed rest..

Try the dummy jack trick for a little extra something. Just make a dummy jack and stick it in any of the two channels your not using and it'll give you a little extra.

It looks fantastic. I have decided to keep my 320/408 and maybe retolex the 408. It's a little scuffed up, as you would expect a big box like that to be after it has been used and schlepped around for a while. Yours looks so good that it has me thinking.

It's overkill in the extreme, but right now it is in my basement music room, being used as a practice amp for when I'm playing the upright with a drummer or loud-ish guitarist. It probably puts out about 3 watts, max, when used that way, but at least it is getting some exercise.

Do you know where the black power switch on the head came from?

Is it Crazy overkill for anything I might need? You bet your ass it is! I think that's why I love it so much.
Wife said it shakes the house... definitely a keeper.
I was very happy to find one in such great shape.
I don't know about the black power switch aren't they all that way?

the 370 is just an utter beast, loads more " thud" bottom end coming out the 106. still love my 150 but the 370 just roars like a WWI tank.

Okay, been away for a long time (divorce, life, kids, work, etc., etc.... ) but I'm back and looking forward to sharing and reconnecting with old friends (JackLegBass, others).

I've already got several of the "new generation" Acoustic stuff + a rare 1978 Acoustic 116 bass combo and have just picked up this vintage 140 + 106 duet from a Guitar Center store in Des Moines, IA and am having it shipped to me in Florida (see screen shot below)... it apparently was turned in by Jeff Olinger of Tri Point Audio Technologies in Des Moines, Iowa. Does anyone on this forum know of him?

He's apparently one of those guys that loves working on and repairing old SS and tube amps, so it looks like it will come to me having been just recently checked over by him!

I saw it on GC's used equipment site listed for $3299.99 and figured that someone accidentally hit an extra "9" on the price, so I called... yep, it was both for $329.99, and GC shipping only costs $13. I've been looking for this set up for some time and glad I found one!

...and it's listed has having JBL D140 (silver cap) drivers, too! BONUS!

It should arrive middle of next week, so I'll come back and post an update once I get to play through it.
