Well, I guess I can join this club now. Yesterday I bought an Acoustic 406 2x15 for 110 bucks. No tolex on the sides or bottom, just on the top and back and along the port. Aside from it being beat to hell, it sounds great, speakers are in excellent condition and is incredibly loud.

Now here's the funny thing about this...

About two years ago, I met this dude, who will be known as "person A" Well person A and my old band became friends with him and his band. Person A had an Acoustic 406. I always told him that if he ever sold it, he better come to me first. Well in recent months person A has dropped off the face of the earth and doesn't talk to anyone... Yesterday, the drummer in my band calls me and tells me that our friend Chris has an Acoustic bass cab for sale... Chris knows Person A as well as I do... So when I call him I ask... "is it like the one that Person A has" and Chris replies with..."IT IS"... Turns out Person A left the thing at Chris's garage for about the past year and Chris was sick of it being there so he decided to sell it.

It's a bit funny, that the cab I wanted since I first saw and heard it, ended up being mine. If Person A still talked to anyone, then I probably would have felt bad... but screw it.

And a lesson is learned here... don't leave equipment at someones house and then stop talking to them... They might sell it for a low low price... ha

Finally I took another step. I was impressed, the voice coil in the new B115 (on top) measures about 4.5", quite large in comparison to the Eminence Kappa 15" in the ACC 126 on the bottom although I admit the comparison may be hard to see in the photo. I popped the grill cover off the 126 in the second pic, still a bit hard to see. But regardless of voice coil sizes, when I hook them both up, allowing the 126 her full 4 ohms, its a sweet sound to behold.:cool:Plus just having a 15" at ear level instead of riding the floor is nice too.

You're preaching to the choir here. ;)

True that. :) Who was it that said "Build it and they will come"? Well anyway, if my hunches (I look a little like Quasimodo btw:() are even half right. After folks get a chance to feast their eyes and ears on the New B600H and B810 in person (due to hit GC stores around Halloween:eek::eek::eek:) And they get a chance to see some of the upcoming press in future BP issues. I'm inclined to think The Acoustic Club here could hit 100 members by 09. We'll just have to wait and see I guess:D Until then those "in the choir" so to speak, will just have to enjoy it all for ourselves.:)

I was at GC in danvers MA on Thursday this week to buy a B200 combo. I have the head but wanted a smaller combo (size wise) for rehersal and real small gigs like the one I have this weekend. Mandoes this thing roar. I put it up on a short stool and sounded great at ear level with no real loss in lows.

So I asked the sales guy who seemed very informed when the new 600 head was due and he said any day now and he agreed it'll be a monster.

So maybe a Thanksgiving day present for us :)

Visited GC today, and spoke to a salesman (a stranger to me) regarding when the B600H rigs would be in the stores.
Now, he may have been yanking my chain, but he said that the new line was in the warehouse now and would hit the floor in the next week or so.

Although you can't see it here, you can hear it, my electric upright plugged into a B200 head and my custom-built 1 X 12" cab
