The Acoustic Club

First post and count me in here!

Just picked up the B200H and the B115 this weekend for my bass player to use.
Man that thing sounds awesome!! Although after going through this thread now I hope it will keep up with my JCM800 and a 4x12 at a show in a couple weeks hehe. I didnt take into account the 1x15 would drop the wattage of the head but it still seems pretty damn loud. First practice with it will be tonight.

My one complaint would be about the cab. We use a rather heavy distorted bass tone (Jazz tuned down to A with a Boss Heavy Metal pedal) and I cant use the horn at all with a pedal. Just adds this nasty top end buzzzzzzzzzzz thats irritating as hell. But turn the horn off, adjust the high end of the eq and voila. Godflesh grind machine in action.. Man I got that thing to scream like my Marshall too when I was playing around cranking the EQ.. AWESOME!!!

Been searching for an old 320/370 for awhile now and everytime I managed to find one, I either didnt have money or they wanted something ridiculous for it.. (If anybodies got one they wanna get rid of Im still looking hint hint hehe)..

I wish the B600 wouldve been out though, I wouldve scooped that up instead! But hey theres always christmas!! :D

I was going to order the B200H with the 115 cabinet, but wasn't super impressed with the sound when I tried it, it lost something over the B200 combo (probably because of the 4 vs. 8 ohms)
I may just get the head, I already have an Epi UL310 & an Avatar 212 Neo cabinet, has anyone tried the B200H through either of those?

All,

This is a repeat of another thread I just posted but I wanted to share my first thoughts with those in The Acoustic Club as well as shout out to those who haven't quite "got it" IMO. Peace.

Firstly, I'm Freakin' Lovin' It! It's more amp than I think I'll ever need but you know what "they say" about headroom. The B600H head goes for $499.99 (450W RMS at 4 Ohms, 600W RMS at 2 Ohms). It will work fine with my B115 and B410 stack, that would be the 450W RMS scenario, although I think I might "pass through" my B115 and attached the 8 OHM cab portion of my ACC Model 126 for grins My guess is that would put me around 515W RMS at 3.25 OHMS or something? But who cares at that point? I'm still keeping my B200H so that I can play around with "stereo amping" with the two heads. I love the EQ and "Notch" filter knob on these things. The B200H is still everything I need it to be. Serious "70's Tonal Flashback" with these things and that's what I was looking for even though I didn't know it at the time. The B200H just kinda knocked me down one day as I was casually checking out bass amps. Oh, and although the manual and current literature on the B600H indicates that the lower two EQ knobs are centered at 63 and 150 Hz, I think, they are not... Look closely at the picture in the manual...they go Lower! The B600H lowest EQ is centered at 40 Hz , the next one is at 120 Hz, then they follow the same centered frequencies as the B200H at 350, 800, 2kHz and 5kHz. Hmmm, sounds like someone was thinkin' Low B! But, what do I know? I think the B810 cab goes for $599.99 and is rated at 800 Watts at 4 OHMs so if you really want to get psycho you could get 2 of them to get the full 600W RMS out of the B600H head. I didn't try that out while I was there. From what I have read, the B810 is not just 2 x B410's stuck together just to look cool, they are more like 4 x 210's, if you will and are their own design (in the USA btw). And yes, they Do Look Cool in person, both the new B600H and B810 sport a (what I call Sky Blue) blue that is a direct match IMO to the old school original Acoustic Control Corp. blue. It goes very well with my vintage ACC Model 126 and does not clash (for those who are picky on aesthetics) with the B200H, B410 and B115 blues. As for how do they sound?
I'm absolutley diggin' it but as always I recommend you go in yourself, with your own ears, your own axe, and give them a serious try.

Hi All,

I just wanted to post some pics here. Sorry, they are not very good quality. But I hope you enjoy! I'm Freakin' Lovin' It!:D I was able to post some better ones (I think) over at unofficialacousticcontrolcorp.com [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] if your interested.

Yeah, the pics make it long as though it's about to fall over but it's actually very sturdy in person. The new Acoustics have really nice fat grippy feet. The bottom one, on it's side, is an Acoustic Control Corp. Model 126 Combo, original old school. I've got new Acoustic Amplification B115 and B410 cabs on top of it. Then to the right, standing vertically is the very new Acoustic Amplification B600H (bottom) topped off with the B200H. It's been many years since I've even had a comparably sized rig such as this and certainly nothing that sounds as good, is as flexible and also has the sheer power potential!::cool: If I were to run all my cabs out of the B600H, I would get somewhere around 525W RMS and that's certainly more than enough for my needs.

Well, admittedly, I am GASless...for now!!!

Long Live Acoustic!

contemplating the B200H and B115 as a new setup for the sanctuary at my church.

however, I've heard a few complaints about a lack of low end since you aren't running the amp at a 4ohm load.

I don't think I want to go with a full stack - that might look like overkill.

should I go with a 4ohm cab from a different manufacturer? or is there not really much truth to this "weak low end" argument.

FWIW, I tend to switch between a passive Fender '51 reissue P and an active Ibanez Soundgear; will shortly play almost exclusively on a Lakland 55-01.

thanks for any help!

Just a suggestion but you may want to check out Acoustics B200 Combo, it has the same head as the B200H and a 15", but the 15" is 4 Ohms, so you may want to try it out and see what YOU think after hearing and comparing the two (B200H and B115 half stack vs. the B200 Combo) and see if there is a perceptable difference to the "low end" loss question.

Best of Luck,

not particularly interested in the combo version.
I guess this is a question about the low end output of the B115.
I'm not familiar with newer Acoustic gear.
I intend to bring this to a 4ohm load, I was just trying to get an opinion of the head matched with the B115 before I decide to go with two 1x12s.

Care to explain why you wouldn't want the combo?
Really, if your not going to get the full stack and are looking at getting a 15incher to use in conjunction w/ the B200H just get the combo. It uses a 15inch speaker at 4ohms so you get all 200 watts out of the head instead of only using an 8ohm load. There's nothing wrong w/ the combo. In fact, in my and many others opinions it sounds better than the half stack option. It also sounds a bit more lowend-capable than using the cab+head.

so dropping more money on two nice 1x12s at 8ohm wouldn't be a better option to push more air, in your opinion?

I apologize if anything I've typed has come across as rude.
I'm sure that you guys know much more about this than I do.

I run a Peavey Firebass through an Ampeg 8x10 fridge, so I'm not all that familiar with small amps/combos.

thanks for all the help!

Fear not the B200 combo -- it's a well-engineered amp/speaker match up that really sounds great and utilizes the amp's full power at 4 ohms.

I'd imagine that hooking up an external 4-ohm speaker load (two 8-ohm 1x12" cabs) to the B200H head would yield a "louder" result as the speaker area would out measure that of the combo. But you may want to give the combo a try, because it really does sound pretty rockin'.

The B200 combo also has a series speaker output that lets you add an extension speaker of the impedance of your choice without danger of damaging the amp; the total power output to each speaker (internal and external) is reduced, but this is generally mitigated by the perceived volume you pick up from added speaker area (see posts #83 through #88 on page 3 of this same thread for technical details).

ALSO -- Listen up, sports fans -- exciting stuff was afoot as I briefly stopped by GC today and saw the B600H and B810 with my very own baby-green eyes -- gonna go back on Saturday and put it through its paces and I'll report back to you!!!
