The Acoustic Club

An Acoustic club that's about amps…perfect!

I have a 120 head (still working last time I tried not to blow out a speaker) that I need to match up with a speaker + enclosure, now that I have a bass.

Are there links to (say) a comparison of enclosure designs pro/con, or recommendations for speaker size, wattage, impedance, whatever that would be compatible w/ the 120? I've been searching around, but I'm only 10 weeks with a bass in my hands, so I don't know if I know the right questions to ask. I know all this is super basic for the good folks here, but links would be priceless if you know of any.

As a post-meltdown retiree, there's no buying an Acoustic speaker cab or other $$$ options except Craigslist…which is cool, but I need to be informed enough to know what to jump on (and when). I'm capable of building an enclosure myself, but again, I'm trying to educate myself.

ANY help at all is gratefully appreciated

I read your post wrong. Any good speaker cab rated for the watts output or more will sound great.
Buy the best you can afford.

'Used gear' is def the ticket: I picked up the 120 head off eBay…20 years ago? Used cabs & loose speakers always catch my eye (I know nothing of cab design except they're made of wood). I check Craigslist every day…trying to learn more about what I'm seeing

Thanks for the help & encouragement, y'all - it's appreciated

360 head w/ two 361 cabs; two 320 heads w/ 408 cabs. Woof!

It's just a head…and I'm still trying to learn what 'good' & 'very good' means for speakers (SO new to the bass…). No bassist acquaintances.
Egg on my face here…it's NOT a 120.

It's a 140. It's been in storage for a while so I was talking from faulty memory. Just ran across a pic of it earlier. Oops.

the club sez the 140 is a LOUD 200w, so…how would that effect my desired used cab? 2x12 might not be enough, so 1x15? 2x15? 4x10?

Even used, this is gonna add up.

Finally! When I was younger and moving to Hawaii I broke up my 371 and sold the Acoustic 301cabinet. I didn't want to transport the "casket" clear across the Pacific ocean, what a pain. It only took a couple years to regret my decision. It was so hard to find a cabinet, for a reasonable price, that could not only handle the power of the amp but also have a sound that I liked.

After moving back to the mainland many years later I went on the hunt for another Acoustic 301cabinet to correct the "stupid mistake" I made years before. I am Whole Again! I found one that needed some TLC and cleaned it, gave it some paint on the interior and "Voila" I am back to hearing that one of a kind sound that a Cerwin-Vega 18" makes in that reflex cabinet!

PS I still use the Acoustic B410 to get rid of that "dead space" in front of the 301.

Hello Acoustic users/owners.

I'm not sure its the way to ask a question here (i've been invited to do so by "stereoplayer" after posting in "Amps & Cabs forum.

I would like to know if Acoustic model 320 users get a nasty pop when "power boost" button is depressed (from "normal" mode to "power boost" mode) ?
I'm not talking about the power on switch

thanks for your future account about this
