I'm with you.. I did the same setup. B6600H with B115 Cab.
Bought the B200H originally... used it at my regular gig on a Fri and Sat night. Everyone loved it. Fit in the mix real nice.
But I was running the volume higher than I'd like. So Sunday I took it back and got the B600H. The next week end I didn't tell anyone and the comments were that amp sure sounded great last weekend but tonight you've got a lot more punch without being louder, how did you dial that in. Ha, same settings more headroom. And instead of the volume on 2 oclock it was on 9 oclock.

Headroom is much more important than running at full wattage. You can't do that very long anyway and keep your amp for any length of time. Eventually I'll buy another 115 as you intend just to have it. But we sit on a small stage and having that second cabinet right behind my ears might not be such a good idea. :)

I like the extra headroom - it's a good thing if you respect it & use it correctly. The 600H has got some serious punch - it kicks like a mule! I am no where near the vicinity of even half-volume before I am plenty loud enough for stage volume. Though I suppose where your Gain knob resides determines how sensitive/effective your master volume will be. I'm still experimenting to find just where I'd like to keep my Gain knob level/gain structure. Loving the B600H! :cool:

Sign me up as another Acoustic club member.

Picked up the B200H with the B115 cabinet at my local GC last night and did a side by side comparison with my Ampeg BA115HP combo,,,, the Ampeg is getting returned back to the store.

All the praise I have read for the B200H w/ the B115 cab is very well deserved.

Later this week I'm picking up the 4x10 cabinet.

I been a pro player for over 25 years (rock, 5 string Jazz bass) and the Acoustic is most impressive to say the least.

And thanks to all on this forum for the information and feedback on the Acoustic line of products, had it not been for me reading all the info and opinions on Acoustic I might not have even checked out Acoustic when I was amp shopping.

Funny thing is that I had an Acoustic many many years ago when I was like 17 or 18 yrs old and I remember how much I loved it.
Matter of fact, growing up here in Las Vegas my father was a guitar player on the strip for all the big production shows and was endorsed by Acoustic and always used their amps.

As a kid I grew up around a house full of Acoustic amps.

I had just totally forgotten about the Acoustic brand until joining this forum.

Back in the day, I played Acoustic bass amps. Within the last year, I jammed with a buddy who had a few in his home studio.

The old ones: More bite, natural solid state distortion, smooth, pleasing OD. Awesome vintage tone.

New ones: couldn't for the life of me EQ the 600H to get that bite and smooth OD. I believe they fooled around with the preamp and tone stack adding "soft compression" (see a previous post), whatever that means.

If the manual is correct, that is a parallel connection. If the manual is wrong, it's a serial connection. Safest thing to do is go by what is written on the output jacks on the back of your amp.

This is really important with the B200 because 4 ohms is the minimum load, whereas the B200H (head only) can handle a 2 ohnm load. Screw up the connection and run 2 ohms in the B200 (the combo) and you'll melt the amplifier.

Serial connections add the ohms together (4 + 8 = 12 ohms) and parallel cuts the impedance (8 + 8 = 4 ohms). I have an old Sunn cabinet that has both Serial and Parallel outs and that was handy when I had a GK that wouldn't handle less than 8 ohms. I hooked up my 4 ohm Sunn 212 cabinet to the amp and ran a serial connection to the GK 115 cabinet. Ended up with 12 ohms and about half the power I would have had a 8 ohms, but it was still plenty because I was moving more air. If I had accidentally plugged the second cabinet into the parallel connection, I would have been running 2.67 ohms and melted the GK amp.

No worries about it now because I have an 8 ohm acoustic B410 cabinet, an 8 ohm GK 115 cabinet, with an Eden Nemesis RS400 head that loves 4 ohms.

Just be real sure what you really have when it comes to messing around with ohms or your liable to end up with an expensive pile of melted amplifier.
