The Awesome Show Off Your Amp Thread!!

Here's my current rig, that I used to record Exciter's latest CD: Death Machine. on the left is my 1974 Marshall Super Bass into my early 80s Marshall JCM800 Bass Series 2x15 cab (model 1551). On the right is my 1973 Super Bass into my early 80s JCM800 Bass Series 4x12 cab (model 1520). I ran my bass into the low Channel 2 input on the 73 head, than daisy chained it from the high Channel 2input to the low Channel 2 input on the '74 head.

Not so grand as the Hiwatt or Marshall stacks above, but here's a Trace 715S combo atop an 1153T cab. My 250SMX is in the shop, and I will pick up another 1153T in the coming year (must needs have 2x15s!). But for now the 200w combo with the extension cab is fine for my current gig scene. This and a modest pedalboard gits 'er done.

The Precision is gone now, swapped for a Jazz...

about a year ago i got annoyed at all these "boutique amps" that cost way more than they should because they are custom made and maybe have magic bass dust sprinkled in the cab. so i thought it would be fun to put together my own luxury boutique practice rig and put em to shame lol. the preamp is an avalon 737sp,(2k) the amp is a mcintosh 275 gordon gow (4k), 1.4k of tubes (vintage gold lion kt88 and mullards) , silver plated copper siltech wires, and a 1956 jbl (all original drivers) hartsfield speaker in near new condition (12k). i think the folded horn inside is 7 feet in length. it sounds incredible. figured id show it off. johnny a. / staind

i hate to do this because it's so unfair for me to just waltz in and rule it ;) but i don't think i've posted in this thread yet:

for my smallest gigs, or for outdoor gigs where i think it'll rain, i use these two items:

into one of these cabs (thread ownage about to commence):

the b-15n stack is my usual rig for most of the stuff i do. but for gigs where i have to be louder than the b-15n stack (not many but occasionally it happens), or for gigs where i just want to hear the sound of hot buttered jesus, i bring these two wrinkly old items:

yes, the svt rig looks old and worn out (btw, it's empty in that pic but it has recently reconed cts's). and yes, i have generic fender style grillcloth on the cab (and head now, too...that's a pic before i got it repaired). and yes, there are plenty of folks on here who have way more stuff than me. but between the svt rig and the b-15n stack (not so much the vtd and powerblock), consider this thread owned.

:bassist:

i'm just kidding...actually i got super great deals on all this stuff and lucked into buying it at a time when ampeg wasn't considered the prettiest gal at the ball. if not for those deals, i'd be playing a used cl and 810e.

so unfair

altho i finally got the chance to plug into a old b-15. ended up in having to change my underware 6 or 7 times

Man, that looks incredible!!

How heavy is that cab though? Is it meant to be pretty stationary, or is it viable to move around?

I also totally dig the head... it's like a great combination of new and old... i bet that rig sounds amazing!!

thumbs up!
