The bargain queen's new bass!

They go great with the curls! And you have the shoes to match! I admire someone who takes care of those little details. Woo-hoo!
Okay, so I'm not the only one who noticed the shoes...
I'm late to the game.
1. Congratulations on the new acquisition. It looks great!!
2. In my non professional opinion, hobbies are good, esp different hobbies for each person in a relationship. Sounds very healthy to me.
3. I would put Roto rounds on the EB0.
4. I would put tapes on the Jag.
5. Sometime in the future, at the right time, I would put flats on a Mustang.
As for color, if you think it's fun to mod, then go for it. The investment is relatively minimal. Personally, I like things as they come (kinda/sorta reddish-sorta siblings below):

Nice, nice. I'm with you, all different color bases. In fact, I was thinking of modding a bass uke to look like a Rickenbacker FireGlo, but I just got in my last mod to look like a Hofner in red burst, so I decided to mock up the Ukenbacker in walnut.
Hey but red is the best color, you don't gotta go and kill it. What you need to do is buy 2 more basses that aren't red. You kbow, to even it out. Congrats on the NBD
Great looking bass. I'd say repaint. Yes, my EB-0 is red. But changing stuff on this bass is just natural.
As to the Hipshot bridge, it's nice, but I don't think it's a world changing improvement. Makes it easier to change strings and set up the bass. And it looks cool. Then again, so does the stock bridge.
Oh, and I'm another one who says either leave the neck unfinished and use oil or use a matte finish. Went after mine with a Scotchbrite and it feels much better.

Very pretty bass! Understand your reticence to repainting when it's that pretty. But I'd go ahead and make it your own.

1. Check how it holds tuning; if the tuners are wonky and need to be replaced do it as part of the re-finish just in case the new tuners have different screw-holes requiring that you plug the old ones.
2. Pull off the volume knob and see if the shaft was bent or if a gorilla punched that pot or something (in which case you may need to do some repair.
3. Check to see if the pots have more crackle than you can stand.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Great bass, and what a smile.

Yay pics! It looks awesome. I dunno, they do kinda look cool as a red pair. But aesthetics are up to you. If you want to refinish, go for it.

I like that idea. When it came, I noticed the back of the neck was painted, and I hadn't remembered that being the case. Thus far, the paint hasn't bothered me, but just in terms of ease, I think it might be better to not try to paint the neck. But then I'll have to get that finish completely off the neck, and that might be even harder! I'll consult the friend that's going to help and see what might be best.

Just curious, what is the weight on the new bass? How does it compare to the ergonomics of the Jag?
Removing the finish from the neck shouldn't be any harder than removing it from the body; since its a poly finish, a heatgun will lift it pretty easily. If you're worried about possibly causing the fingerboard to lift; I wouldn't worry about it. Having peeled a fingerboard, it takes a good amount heat directly on the FB to debond the glue.
