Darrell e-mailed me to tell me that he prepped the basses for shipping, and that Jack White shipped them out (apparently Darrell usually does this?) Anyway, it sounded like he will e-mail the shipping information to us soon, but he said it was possible that we may receive the bass before the shipping info is received. A bit weird, I guess, but I will keep everyone posted.

Sorry about that!

I actually went in and packed/prepared it for shipping, and Jack came by to have them shipped, which is why I haven't e-mailed you your tracking number yet. Jack should be e-mailing me your tracking number soon, but I believe the bass shipped about two days ago. If Jack e-mails me the number before it arrives, I'll be sure to forward it to you.

It will be my first fiver... and I couldn't have asked for a better deal or a snazzier looking bass. I am kind of sad that they are not using the factory in China anymore. I read the whole thing by Jack Wilson on the TBC homepage and was impressed by their business philosophy. Did they run into legal trouble or what...anyone know the scoop?

Warmoth makes Fender-standard necks. Even their bodies and necks that resemble Gibsons and B C Riches are made to Fender geometry.

So, the only way this might be possible is if TBC uses Fender dimensions. Anybody have an idea whether this is so?

You might want to play the neck first, bfore planning to replace it immediately. Just a thought.

no a fender neck would not fit, and theres no reason to.
TBC necks are GREAT. Think Peavey Cirrus, but a touch wider it seems.

you'd have to be insane to replace a crazy good neck like TBC's with a $300 fender-esque neck.
TBC necks win hands down IMO

Just curious; why would anyone want to replace the neck? If you received a bass with a bum neck, send it back to TBC. I mean, we are talking current TBCs right? We're not talking about the MusicMan copies they made domestically years ago, no? Because those basses, probably would take a conventional Fender-style neck.

I'm curious on the whole "neck replacing strategy", so lets say you replace the neck because of how the current neck feels... Couldn't that result in a completely different sound from the bass? So wouldn't you now start complaining "it doesn't sound like a TBC" anymore...

Careful, Growler. Next thing you know, you're going to start that whole debate about how much or how little the neck affects the sound/tone of the bass. Egad...

Given the low cost of the bass, popping on a custom neck that may or may not fit properly is just...well...let's just say impractical? If TBC ships you a bass with a screwed up truss rod or a big hump in the fret board, or whatever about the neck that is out of wack; then you send that puppy back! Even if you found an exact replacement (which I doubt you can find) it’ll likely cost as much if not more than the bass itself! Besides, I keep reading raves about the neck on these basses. I fail to see the sense into sinking money into a replacement neck unless there's something more to this story that I don't know of.

If you don't like how the neck feels, you shouldn't have bought the instrument. Because, obviously, you wouldn't know a good bass if you were hit on the head with it
