I agree that the dual humbucker on the main page is gorgeous. I would not mind one of those, especially at that price point.

Oh were have i been, i didn't even know they had a new site, doesn't look as pretty though 
I have just emailed to buy one of an AP-400MM specifing the pickguard of course 
I don't think they ship to the UK but i can always get it sent to a friend in the US and then sent over here ...

It has 2 humbuckers, but there is no pickguard at all. The body stain is darker than those on the website.
On the back of the headstock it says " Handcrafted in the USA" and a serial number 000228 below it.
What model do I have, and what year is it?
Any help greatly appreciated!!
Also, I want to change the strings - does it take regular long scale, or super long scale?

Thanks for the info....would you be able to hazard a guess at the year of manufacture? Any clues from the serial number 000228?
And, no, I don't believe it's neck-thru, as I don't see any break or joints in the body section. The grain of the wood seems consistent throughout. Wish it were.....

A local to me has a couple AP400M for sale at $400 each. This is more than what is on the website. However, I would not have to pay for shipping, etc.
Also, I have made several calls and no answer or return call. Also my Emails have not been responded too. Neither bother me, as I'm assuming this is a small company, and/or are on summer hiatus.
Is $400 a good price used, given limited availability? Can I do better?

I personally wouldn't spend more than $350 on one of these basses. I liked mine, but after a while, I felt I had to move on. They are not easily upgradeable and the lack of finish causes them to collect some dirt and sweat.
Thanks for the advice! The bass is actually for my son. Will give it a play and then offer $350 and see what happens.
I'd show your local place the prices on the actual website and get them to sell them to you for that. If they are used there is absolutely no reason for the markup (aside from a shonky shop trying to make dodgy profit), and they should sell it to you for the advertised price, or less!
Either way, they are well worth the money, these basses play and sound fantastic. My old AP-500M tore shreds off regular Stingrays in every department (except maybe the preamp).

Thing is, this is a private party and not even a shop! All the more reason not to pay the markup then.

Oh right, well that's quite the raught then. Just let him know what the actual prices are. That particular model was selling on Ebay a while ago for $249 BIN if that gives you some insight.
I just talked to Jack 3 days ago about something and he stated that he is hoping to have a few on the ebay store w/in the next 2 weeks.
From then his plan is to try and assemble 1 of each model per week as well as catch up w/ all of the custom orders he already has backed up.

I just emailed them a few days ago asking about the availability of a lost truss rod allen key (I lost mine when I was moving), and Jack immediately offered to send me a new one for no charge. He seems like a really good guy.
