The bass that needs no modifications?

What's the one bass that you don't need to have any modifications? The past basses I've bought, I've gotten new pickups, bridges, etc., but I haven't found one where I want to do no modifications.

Also, it can't be a custom bass because you choose what you want, not what comes stock.

For me, it would be a Lakland Decade or a DJ.

I'm in love with everything on my Spector Euro. It has an all-maple body with a nice bright green stain, active EMG's and a 2-band Aguilar preamp. Not to mention Spector's signature giant brass bridge. It also has a brass nut, which I like, and Schaller tuners. I wouldn't change a thing. It does have a scratchy pot though, but cleaning it wouldn't be considered a "mod" by any means.

I don't care to "upgrade" anything because I like it straight.

Considering I put Straploks on everything the only basses I haven't modded have been the ones that come with them! And even then...

I think the only one that hasn't been touched is my Sadowsky.

umm damn i cant think of one, but thats probably cuz im a self declared bass surgeon (reconstructions and augmentations ) and my favorite thing in the world is to alter by basses to whatever im feeling currently, although i suspect when the Zon im about to order comes i wont want to change it

I am really picky about my sound but tend to only buy higher end basses that sound/play great 100% stock.

IMO, the less expensive (still around $600 used) example would be a Geddy Lee Jazz. Giggable right out of the box. P.S. The tuners are OK.

Also Sadowsky, Roscoe, MTD USA and all EBMM IMO are great stock.

Other than a Hipshot Bass Xtender, that'd be my 1983 Fender Vintage Series '62 P bass. And the Lakland Deluxe 494. And the Lakland Classic 494. And the Fender Sting Precision bass.

For me, I've found that if I buy a bass that sounds right unamplified, I spend a lot less money on trying to wring a sound out if later.

Other than minor adjustments (relief, action and pickup height) and straplocks, mine are all stock and I actually like them all just as they are!

Depends on your standards/preferences of course, but I never felt the need to modify the two Rick 4001s I used to have. I'm pretty sure I'll be leaving my '08 Fender Jazz stock, but I do sometimes wonder about pickups...
