The bastards stole everything...

Fralim01 has accepted the offer of my Yamaha bass. :)

I'll be sending it to him as soon as I can get it packed, but I need a little help.

I've shipped a few guitars and basses in the past, but I always had empty bass boxes hanging around, now I don't.

So, does anyone know where I can get a box big enough to pack a bass in?

Is there a shipping company that I can bring the bass to, and they'll pack it?

Any help appreciated.

Mike ;)

Have any UPS Stores by you? If so, then you can give them the bass and they will pack it and ship it for you.

Thanks everyone for you comments and concerns. I appreciate the encouragement from everyone. Everyone, please heed the good advice from people about documentation. I only had the serial from my Sadowsky - everything else is most definately going to be lost. We just moved (to a nicer neighborhood, no really worries when we moved) and didnt get tenant insurance yet. This means that we are likely very screwed. More advice for renters - get insurance right away. If it can happen in this building, in this neighborhood, it can happen anywhere.

Here is a picture of my baby - maybe gone forever....

Thank you to everyone again, your comments really have affected me in a positive way!
Just a quick thought- did you buy this new, or used? Would the party you bought this from still have records of the S/N? Might help a little, if it gets recovered. Plus you have this pic of you playing it, right? Just a thought.

For this bass (the Sadowsky) I do have record of the serial. The number is #2653. I have a pic of the serial number too.

The other basses and guitars, I do not have this info...:(

Yeah, that was my first thought, although if I can find a shipping company that actually packs things up, that would be more convenient.

It's just that a bass in a case is an odd, big size.

Thanks, Brad. :)

Mike

It's a size that many music stores deal with on a daily basses. I've gotten boxes sized specifically for bass guitars from local music stores several times over the years. They're just going to throw them out.

A box to fit a bass from anywhere else will be costly IME. A box from GC or whatever will be free;)

Cultural and linguistic barrier. English is not his native tongue- thanks for the apology, TK007. That helps. Could have been anyone that stole it- thieves are all disgusting to me, regardless of ethnic persuasion.

"Cultural and linguistic barrier"?

Unless the Czech word for "thief" is "black person", I'm not buying it.

Awesome indeed.

If something like this ever happened to me, I already know what I would do:

Take inventory, collect insurance, rebuild collection to more exacting specs.

Even with the attachments I have to my equipment, technically speaking they are just things which can be replaced.

Awesome indeed.

The only thing I was thinking is that I saw his post in another thread that mentioned "dark men" and I'm wondering if it was supposed to be a poor translation of "evil men" or something to that effect.

Either that or he's just a racist.

it's not unusual in some languages for the word "black" to denote a state of spiritual being or malefeasance, not the color of their skin. for instance, "blackquard" isn't talking about kobe bryant. i don't think it is appropriate to slam on someone who does not naturally speak our language for a misstep, especially not by using a socially derrogatory term (the "borat" defense? you mean that guy who is a native english speaker performing in the social equivalent of "blackface" and making fun of foreigners? talk about pot-kettle-black there. no pun intended.)

then again it seems that this individual has a history already of posting questionable things. so maybe not.

So why say I'm slamming him? This is me "slamming" him:

Granted I could've go on and cited what I've read elsewhere but I didn't. Those other posts plus this are what fueled my skepticism. I can see where you'd assume I'm slamming on him for a single incident.

I also posted later on that maybe the translation program he might be using has issues.

And the CHARACTER Borat isn't a native English speaker. And I thought he was making fun of the people he met in the US.

Edit: Here ya go... apparently he's been banned. Here are some posts that survived:
