THE BONGO CLUB (Part 2, 3 and infinity)

I'm really enjoying these two... having gone a year or so Bongo-less.

They're both 2012s:

The Candy Red is a 8 lb 11 oz, 4Hp, 4-band eq and piezo, wearing rounds.

The Black is a 7 lb 15 oz, 4H, 3-band eq, wearing flats.

While I wait - curious what you fretless bongo players are wearing string wise? On my 6 HS I'm loving Circle K balanced .142 set... don't think I want round wounds with a piezo pickup though.

Here's an admission - I didn't know the Bongo existed until mid 2013. I just haven't been looking at basses, in shops etc. One week after seeing this beautiful looking bass somewhere online, I bought one. Looks amazing, feels astonishing in the hands and sounds wild. That green is beauty. I believe that's one of the PDN only colors? Bass central wants a premium price for their lefty version. I love Bongos. I've posted pics of my Tangerine 4 String here...I'll have to get a pic with it's Sterling Silver 5 string brother on here.

Hey guys can you compare for me the weight and tone of a Bongo 6 as to a Stingray Classic 5. I'm contemplating trading my 5 for the 6. I like the sound of the Stingray extremely well but I'd like the C string to go with it. Any suggestion where I can play any around Atlanta?

They both vary. I've seen Bongo 6s from 9.5 to 11lbs. My personal 6HS weighs 10.2 lbs, ish.
Tone is... well, entirely different when set "flat" on the EQs, and only gets more different when you have things tweaked. Also depends on which picks you run with. If you have a Stringy Classic 5, take it to a store that has a couple of Bongos to compare it to directly would be your best bet. I don't live anywhere near Atlanta, so I can't comment on where those places may be, sadly...
