I bought this bass off of tyler a month ago.
just got it back from a pro set up and liking it a lot so far.
was surprised that the bass had so much grind and warmth; I thought it was going to be ultra modern but the neck PU really evens out the tone and makes it very versatile.

That blue sparkle is very nice. Maybe next year they'll do a blue sparkle like they've done the green and red this year.

New string day for my 5H - it took me a month to find the time, but my Desert Gold toilet seat now wears a fresh set of LaBella 1954 flats (the Jamerson set.) I also replaced the brass tuner posts with aluminum ones as an experiment in reducing headstock weight.

Well, I'm going to join this club a 2nd time (I don't know if I got a "number" the first time around - EDIT: ah-ha, I did, #123). I still have my silver 6 HS that I play for pretty much everything. However, yesterday, I ordered a red sparkle 5 HSp unlined fretless from The Perfect Bass . Due date is late January to mid February. It's going to be a LONG wait.

While I wait - curious what you fretless bongo players are wearing string wise? On my 6 HS I'm loving Circle K balanced .142 set... don't think I want round wounds with a piezo pickup though.

after three rehearsals, this is my lowdown:
fantastic low end and very killer B string
light weight, versatile, great clarity and mid presence.
very playable and enjoyable too.
I think I killed two birds with this stone; no need for an SR5-i see it as redundant now

I, too, was floored by how versatile a Bongo is. Now, instead of bringing 6 basses to a gig I can bring two....a Bongo......and Another Bongo.....in Case a String Breaks.

Back with my Unicorn... I've wanted a 4 Hp for a couple years.

I've previously owned five different Bongo basses and had a club number which I can't recall. I'd like to get it back if it's still available.

I just received this 2012 Candy Red Bongo 4Hp today, and I'm instantly reminded of why I have returned to the fold. I love the looks, the tone, the feel and the ergos.

The pic is the sellers... I'll take a few come the weekend. The seller kept the abalone pg and included the stock black pickguard with the protective covering still on it.

Time to do some pickguard shopping.

That's a nice combo, but I think I want something a little flashier... not sure yet what that is.

I need to visit Jeannies and a few others to get some ideas.

White pearl is probably my default if I can't decide on another color.
