Well, thereby hangs a tale or two. I put some foam in each-and then removed some from each(if you remember that whole ordeal). I like the 100's tone a little better, prolly 'cos of the 12". The 2-3 times I've played through 2xR100s-not mine-was real close to the tone I got-and loved-from my 63 Bassman(s). Someday...

AFA the 200c, it has its own sound, prolly at least partially due to the larger cabinet. I like it, but the 100's 22# vs the 200c's 34.5#, and the fact the 100 is sufficient for every room we play 'cept maybe one, means the 100 gets the nod most of the time.
Having the 40, 100, and 200c, it's highly unlikely(not to be confused with Haile Selassie)I'll be buying any more amps. Especially since-if ever needed again-I have the Mighty Kasino.
And my 2000 B-25.
And my 80s(?) P_____KB300. And my backup amp, a P____ MAX110-both obtained B4 they 'ticked' me off.

Thanks for the info and update on your gear. I agree with you on your description of the Rumble combos you own. While there's a definite consistency to each, the cabinet and driver size do offer each their unique vibe. For me, the 40 works best for what I'm looking for with that type of amp. You have a nice array to pick and choose from depending on your need for that particular gig. You'll have to let us know if something so special happens that you have to take the Kasino out of retirement!

Second, bringing along your best buddy and musical partner isn't as bad as one might think, third, as much as I love my Youtubing recording life, there is still nothing even comparable to live playing. Sharing music with our fellow humans is still incredibly fun and we look forward to expanding on it in the next year or so.

Having a wide array of basses, amps, and whatever else makes you happy is always a smart move. Different tools for different situations. What I learned most was not to judge a product as worthless without giving it a fair shake first. The R40 has earned a place in my combo stable and when the situation arises again, I'll be sure to grab it and go.

Hope you enjoyed my travelogue. We met many wonderful people along the way and just might do it again down the road. Until then, go on YT and type in "Mike and Jackie Adair" if you'd like to see some of our work. We're always looking for new subscribers. I'll try and make it back more often now that music is my chief reason to get up each morning. Thanks for reading!

PS: to Doc Intrepid: although I do enjoy playing my Sire U5 P/J bass, the Hofner has become my alter ego, lousy tuning and all. I've now started a savings plan to ultimately buy a German-made violin bass. At the present, there's $2.46. I've got a ways to go...

So, Datty, looks like you've added the Bassman TV12 to the TV10 you joined the Bassman Club with. Those are some great 150 watt combos!

Do you also still have the TV15 as well? That's a 350 watt powerhouse of a combo!! :woot:

Its last trip outta the house was in 2015 when we played at a car show. Now it's my practice amp.

With the death of my Hartke HyDrive 112 combo -- it works for about five minutes and then makes a horrible screaching noise like a robot in boiling oil -- all of the gig work has fallen to either my Rumble 40 or my Genz Benz Contour 500/15. The 40 works great as a stage monitor with FOH and as an amp with the acoustic folks and wineries.

The Benz gets it with the loud band, putting out 300 watts without an extension speaker, which is good because I don't own an extension speaker.

I find the 40 on vintage and with about the same settings as iagtrplyer mentioned works pretty well, although I have to tweak depending on which bass I'm playing. I'm finding a wide variety of sounds out of the Benz, and have settled on a Fenpeg sound that seems to match what I hear in my head. (First amp in the 70s was a borrowed 'peg B18 and first purchased was a Bassman.)

Hard part is tweaking the 40 to sound like the Benz.
