Datsgor, welcome to the Combo Club. Because it's New Year's Day, I'm giving you #35, a throwback to the bygone era. Actually, I found a second "mikeyjm2" (who recently chimed in and that's how I caught the duplicate) at that number so instead of goofing everyone's membership number up I gave you that one. Congratulations! Seriously, having a number under 50 automatically awards you to one free rental at the Loaner Room here in the CC Clubhouse. Personally, I'd go for the Acoustic B50C combo. Trust me on this one...

Now hold just a minute, G-Dog! You do realize the new year is upon us and that means figuring out how we're gonna pay to keep this place. You and M conned me into letting Odin become Chief of Security, and yes, he's done a pretty decent job of it, but an IMAX expansion at the laundromat? How many oobleck combo loaners are we gonna have to rent out each day in 2019 to pay for that? And go-cups too? Sheesh, what do you people think we're made of? (If they only knew I had to "borrow" club dues to pay for that darned Stage 800!)

I've had one of these for around 30 years. Gigged with it, practiced, etc. LOVE the huge bass sound out of such a small package. I used to set it on top of an 18" bottom I had for larger gigs. With the two 8 ohm speakers in parallel it pumps 150 watts into the 4 ohm load. Best gear purchase I ever made. I think back in the day it went for $249. Just had to replace the speaker. Not bad for 30+ years. Incredible workhorse. Only reason I now own a bigger combo (Eden Nemesis RS410) is Marshall half-stacks. Grrr.....

One of my best purchases too. I got it in 1992 and in all that time I had to replace the fuse once and that was about 4 years ago. A real gem and a hell of a workhorse.

Well, I used to own an Ampeg SVT/810 cab(mid 70s) and I still have a Kasino-200w, 2x15(1970). Most all of our gigs there's no FOH-and no need for it. Lightweight is the answer. Our usual audience is 50 +. They don't want loud. My "big" amp now is a Rumble 200c. And I only take it if I have to. This Saturday it'll be the R40.

There are days when I'm with this crowd. Won't say no to that stadium gig, right, but choose yer' gig and be home in time for supper sounds good to me too.

Now it just so happens that one fine day Ray Brown hisSelf says very clearly learn every song in the Real Book. Now that Real Book is just out of reach. The one that was sold to me by [Someone] [Somewhere] no questions asked like buying something illegal. Which, actually, it is, and what I understand now is the so-called Sixth Edition is legal and corrected.

It is this I will pick up in a few days along with some blank sheet music so I can transcribe a few heads. I see this as very good work for my speed right now, having failed to secure musical employment elsewhere. Basically thinking, I can do this myself, get in and out fast and light and sounds good to me.

Drives me nuts. I think it improves a short distance from the stage, which is good of course, but the onstage dynamics are troubling. I’m toying with the idea of a new and different amp, but I don’t want to spend the $ and wind up in the same place.

Folks here at TB are saying the boom can be reduced by decoupling the amp? An amp stand also get the thing pointed at your ears instead of your knees. Not tried it myself as the C4 / BG 400 needs to be coupled for a clear bass response. How about them five inch drivers, ain't they cool? Couple to the corner and bass lines rule (apologies to Mason Williams).

Michael135, how ya doing? Man, are we having a run on mikes and Michaels this week or what? I owned a BA-210 v2 for a cup of coffee and found it to be quite boomy on the floor, but once I elevated it (amp stand), it sounded better to my ears. Have you messed around with anything to reduce the boom? I'm currently using an Auralex Gramma v2 and I think it makes a difference, especially on wood floors. BTW, I really loved the Ampeg's tone, so if you can reduce it ya might decide it's a keeper.

Hey, post a pic of the 'Peg and I'll score you a membership number. It costs nothing to join other than you have to love combos! Think about it.

M, you won't believe how close I was snagging a PJB just for the practice room. I was thiiisss close to pulling the trigger on a Double Four. So I obviously listened to those same thoughts and ultimately bought a 2-10 800-watt combo. If that's not fearless then I don't know what is!

Okay, peoples, I have to go to bed because I have to go to my job tomorrow, but I wanted to give you a 60-second review on my Stage 800. Tonight, we became friends. (1) First, thank you, Fender, for the Fender Tone app. OMG, does that beat leaning over the amp to adjust controls. There's nothing that can't be altered, added to, or taken away. (2) Second, it sounds really good in my headphones, which I'll probably use more than the speakers right now. No noise, no interference, no nothing! (3) Devon, I, to my ears, marginally improved the Flip Top with your suggestions and adding a little 'verb. The ones I'm falling for are my revised Dual Showman and '59 Bassman models. Both are great platforms for what seems to be tight, clean tone. (4) I also added the 12-string model, which isn't fooling me that's it's a 12-string guitar but is fun anyway, and an acoustic bass with its sim. That one I'm gonna continue to tweak that one. I found it to be pretty decent. (5) Finally, I know it's been only a couple of days, but not a hiccup, burp, or cookie-toss whenever the amp has been on. Again, I'm blown away by how easy it's been to merge my phone with the combo using Bluetooth. May that continue forever too.

"Doggie, you MUST sell everything you own (all other combos, automobile, TV, pots and pans, etc) to purchase a Studio 40, if that's what you'd like to get. You'll forget everything else you've owned, believe me. I wasn't expecting to like this as quickly as I did, because as mentioned, I tend to dislike modelers, but the effects are very good as well as the amp models. Throw in the fact that it is seemingly built well and it's a no-brainer to own. All of a sudden my Ampeg rig is getting nervous...

Have a great day tomorrow and think of me if some kid comes up to you and asks to go to the bathroom. Then multiply that times a hundred and that'll be my Thursday. Bladders weaken after a long vacation. Enuff said.

Glad to hear your Rumble Stage 800 is living up to expectations. That Tone App remote control is extremely interesting to me. I've enjoyed bass modeling with my B-DEC for over 10 years, though never really did much with the Fuse App. But the wifi and Bluetooth connections seem most excellent.

Mrs. Dog also had 2 cataract surgeries, with expensive multifocal lenses. Then, since she could see again, we had a very merry Christmas spoiling the grandkids absolutely rotten. Now, in happy 2019, we are mailing out checks much faster than they are coming in. We are now "the haves", in love and stuff, and simultaneously "the have nots" in finances.

What!?!? Sell some guitars and/or amps, you say? Bite your tongue! I'd sooner sell a child! 'cept, you know, they're all grown with children of their own, which they only rent out to me on a short term basis, and never ever earn their pay. (sigh)

"Some day my Studio will come ..." But, alas, that day is not today, or anytime soon. (sob, sniff) 'til then, I must live vicariously thru my TB friends with Studios and Stages!

Loved this post! First, as being a former FUSE user, there’s, in my opinion, a certain pedigree brought from the Bronco 40 to the new gen. But what’s great is they took some of the solid foundation and put a 200-story super skyscraper on top! The effects are much improved and a. Umber of the bass tones are really solid. #1 is a Bassman Clean, and while it’s perfectly vanilla, after playing it for a while you realize how much better it sounds than Zoom’s Fender entry. Still lots to learn and tweak, but it’s a journey I look forward to taking.

As for your second para, just saying “Not at this time” would’ve sufficed, but I did enjoy learning about ya and I’ll bet it felt good to unload your holiday baggage! You will have one at some point, no doubt about it!

Finally, As the Stage Turns...love it! Sounds like a weekly radio show back in the thirties. I’ll do my best to keep the club informed of any new discoveries. Again, my resolution this year is to learn this amp, inside and out, to offer any assistance that might be requested.

Well, "Dude, she wants you back." would've been much more efficient than, "She Loves You! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! etc., etc.", or "I miss Buddy Holly" would 'suffice' instead of "Bye, bye, Miss American Pie ... etc." but it just isn't as interesting, is it? Most entertainment often has an element of TMI mixed with exaggeration and, at least, a little believability, though sometimes being based on a true story, or maybe just a feeling.

Weekly!? I wish! All the women in my family watched "As The World Turns" on TV every single weekday around noon for, at least, the first 30 years of my life! I could never tell if my family was talking about real people, or the TV characters! When The Carol Burnett Show, yeah way back then, did a soap opera spoof called "As The Stomach Turns" my mom and I literally ROFL!
