The Combo Club

Hi @Jason42 and welcome. Plenty of combo converts here. Someone will have the answers you seek, but I have no personal experience to offer on GK or Eden combos. Just Ampeg, vintage Acoustic (my avatar) and recently Fender. I’ve heard amazing testimony about Eden’s Nemesis line.

Check back with us for answers or go all the way and request your very own club number, I think they’re still issuing the sterling silver club signet ring to the next ten candidates so...:smug:

I’m sorry, but I have been looking for those darn rings for a half hour. Didn’t a club member’s grandkids swipe ‘em all a few weekends ago? I’ll keep looking.

Ghost, since I got ya, what model do you tend to use when playing live? I’m thinking of creating patches with the tube preamp as the hub and go from there without a speaker cab. Do you have a fave?

And virtual raffle tickets for the chance at an invisible club ring so that other combo club members will recognize you on sight. Proceeds from the raffle are earmarked for furthering science in the classroom with driver excursion demonstrations. After the cleanup from the last. Don't cross the beams, it would be bad.

Now those rings we have. They’re pretty cool too. I found a great deal online as well. I picked up 500 rings and a bag of magic beans for only $1 plus the two-day shipping fee. Now where did we put those stupid virtual raffle tickets???

Dontcha remember? In the virtual safe, of course.

These seem to get used a lot but note that I have ‘groomed’ almost all the onboard patches using my formula so mine may not sound much like factory anymore. Also I’ve have discovered I like certain of the speaker sims. On this amp some seem to work well.

Oh, ho, ho! Fearless Leader and Comrade Goneplaid! You kill me!! Ha ha ha!!

No! Wait! Fearless Leader, it was just an expression, not a request! Please, sir!! Please!

Funny, G-Dog, I was gonna put a picture of myself on a page to strike fear into the world's hearts, but I see you've already taken care of that for me. Thanks a lot. There goes complete anonymity. 'Dog, you're not going anywhere my friend. You're too valuable to Mother Combo. Besides, who'd we get to intro our club and offer the coolest Wiki page this side of Pottsylvania?

Congrats to lowdownthump for becoming our 117th member of the CC! With that honor, he will receive all the benefits that go with the title. Chime in any old time you want to, ldt.

Folks, when we add three more members I'll post the updated list, which is on its fourth page. Very nice!

Thanks so much for your input. I am also a big fan of the TV Bassman Clean. It's purer in a more traditional tone compared to some of the entries. I mentioned this earlier in the week, but I'm digging a recent download, the MicroVR. I think it's one of the better 'Peg-sounding models. I do like the clean preamps as well and that darned Dual Showman. It and the '59 Bassman Clean have a softer tone that I like. The bottom doesn't jump out and smack you in the face, you have to coax it out. Effects-wise, I'm into the Shimmer reverb and I don't know why because it's not normally me. I've set up an acoustic tone and it plays with that quite nicely.

Still so much to learn and I can't give the amp the proper amount of time right now. As previously mentioned, the foot pedal is still in the bag! Thanks again, Ghostie. Everyone is welcome to drop a line about the amp, including your favorite models and setups.

ICODA, congratulations, you are the Combo Club's 116th member! Should you continue to stay in good standing in the club, glorious days are ahead of you. G-dog, our Sargeant-at-Arms, will greet you in our club's spacious lobby, give you a full tour (make sure to stop by Dr. Cheese's famed Rickenbacker Wine Cellar) including our soon-to-be Virtual Bassist Room. What's that you ask? Oh, nothing more than entering a world where YOU, not John Paul Jones are holding down the bottom end for Led Zep! Or maybe you feel a little English today. Then pop on down to Magg's Brew Pub for a bit of brown ale and be entertained by his weekly guest in an acoustic set. This weekend, none other than Pete Townshend or Eric Clapton...whichever one can hear the phone ring first to score the gig, but I digress...

Welcome aboard, ICODA, and tell your friends about us!

Fearless Leader

LOL. Pete Townsend is a bit deaf, so he didn't hear the phone ring!
I'm sure everyone will be happy with Mr. Clapton.
We have more than Brown Ale on tap now. I have a nice American IPA, German Lager and a strong English "Winter Warmer" Ale too.
We also have a selection of wines and spirits. I am working on a Gin section next.
We will also be serving food this evening (old Clapper is fond of his grub). There will be a selection of home-made Pork Pies, Scotch Eggs. Sausage Rolls. Cornish Pasties and sandwiches accompanied by Chips (french fries) and Salad (Veggie and Vegan options available).
Eric's on at 9pm. He can't play After Midnight though as he likes to be in bed with his Cocoa by then.

Do I know how to pick my people or what? Maggs, best of luck with the tavern. Let me know when ya book Noel Gallagher. I’m coming in for the Pork Pie!

Mmmmm! "Luigi" can sure cook up some tasty vittles! Did I hear you hired him an assistant chef to manage the Pub's kitchen? Good idea. "Luigi" is getting spread pretty thin with more and more eateries in The Clubhouse.

(You know, I've heard that about Elmo Clapner. Yes, he'll have to have them all pulled out after the Savoy Truffle!)

Pasties. Mmmmm. And yes, I know what they are.

not to be confused with pasties. What a difference a single letter makes when it comes to the lost and found bin at the Combo Club all-nite laundromat, pub and cinema ....
