We are just about to play at our annual academic conference. The theme this year is 'Making' .our contribution is Making Noise. Here is our tiny backline that is actually loud.

When I look at the Peavey Max 2x8 what strikes me as most significant is it's the wattage heavy hitter in their combo lineup. Elsewhere in TB Amps & Cabs it's held that the only thing that can be correctly deduced from the published width of a driver is the driver's diameter. Looks to me a cool take on a working bassist's combo with 52 Nash fender curves :thumbsup: Even has a contour button!

Cool setup, Doc. How big was the venus? By looking at the stage I'd say a couple of hundred rabid fans packed in to see ya. Hard to tell, but was the Vox piggybacking on the Peavey? I know, lots of questions, now get me some answers! BTW, how did ya sound? :hyper:

At the risk of sounding like a scoundrel, did you actually witness said fender curves, M, or just read about them in a book? Just curious, because that means you would've been around for the 1960 unveiling of a true Fender...the Jazz! Me, I was just a pup. I am curious about the Peavey 2 X 8 though.

Fender LT25 Update (alt title: Where the Heck is My Amp?)

The news is there is no news. Musicians Friend has now changed the shipment date three times; 3/3, 3/13, and now 3/21. I pre-ordered on 2/2. It wouldn't be a big deal being I have plenty of amps to keep me loud, but Sweetwater has been selling the little guy for weeks because it's in stock. I can imagine that MF and GC are not getting stock in as fast compared to their competitors, possibly because of rumored money troubles, but this is ridiculous. Anyone else having troubles like this? Misery loves company. Off to Dreamland...later!

Over in Thunderbird Club, I had mentioned-more than once-that the only pedal I use is an EHX Micro POG. Some people asked if I could post a video, so I made one but couldn't get it to upload to TalkBass. If interested on hearing it-and the Kasino, go on YT, IMG3448/EHX Micro POG demo.
On a different note, the new Peaveys look very interesting but I just can't give them any of my money after the "Undercover Boss" episode. I'm sure other companies have done similar things, but sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Yeah, the venue was a good size at a capacity of a couple hundred I'm sure, but there was likely only about 20 folks there when we played.

I work at a small college of about 1100 students per year. We have an interdisciplinary conference every year. Three of us are profs at the college and one guy is a millwright in town. We play for fun and unfortunately only practised once since early December. Nonetheless we sounded okay playing wise. The mix was okay too. I suppose I'm a little old school now. I haven't really played since 92, so I'm used to relying on the backline. We should have turned down our amps and let the soundtech mix our sound but I didn't have much time to think about it for set up. I think our sound check was about 5 minutes. We were not the main show, but just there to close out the day.

My highlight was actually when a group my students did a panel on the ethics of human experimentation. The Dean came and the students rocked it way harder than we did!

In 1960 .... in 1960 the only instrument I was likely playing was a toy piano.

Hmm. 1960. 7 years into piano lessons(never was any good),3 years into clarinet and sax playing(so-so), 7 years from beginning on bass. "What a drag it is getting o-o-old".

Well right then, piano to clarinet to saxophone to bass and never looked back.

That Nash spotting is child's play for any in 1960 who watches the television machine. Lois Lane's ride of choice is, you guessed it, a

Of course Lois Lane is a textbook journalism school example of "how to do everything wrong". Really. No reporter becomes part of their story, right? Journalism 101, first year university. Observe, record, report what's really there. And no newspaper, no newspaper worth their salt wants to report on themselves, hey?

If the (small f) fender curves of the Nash come on the top of the Peavey 208 combo, hey bring it on. And some chrome!

From my experience if you're looking for dirt dialing up gain on a PJB amps you're likely disappointed. The grit available with the Vox is well explored thanks to @Killed_by_Death

Interesting to observe Phil Jones Bass offerings with 7 inch drivers. IMO very attractive.
