Those darn hand cranks nearly broke my wrists a few times before and after a gig...summer vapour lock was a wonder to behold cough cough loll guess younger members havent got any idea what we're talking about SR lolll
edit. From memory SR I tried asbestos "rope" wrapped around the glass fuel bowl / fuel pump and doused in water in high summer to try and relieve vapour lock..lol It worked to a degree of success.

Yeah kids, listen to your Uncle Giff. The next time you get a case of the vapors, don't forget to use a good 'ole asbestos rope but try not breathing it in directly or you'll most likely die. The End. Ah, great memories!

Yes, I had to carry water in the van during the summer. Not for thirst, but to pour over the carb every few miles so I could keep driving! Never did try the old trick of putting half an orange or grapefruit over the carb though.

Orange? Grapefruit? That's it, I'm going to bed. My day is done when innocent fruit is involved in a desperate plot to cool your carburetor. Good night everyone!

It's not my favorite idea, to disassemble things in effort ro reinvent them, but in this case the nearly-MkIII head was going to do me more good, and be lighter, than the whole combo with what I think is a less-than-optimal speaker enclosure. It's also not the very slickest job of it, but it's pretty good- and when I get the grille resized and installed with the Peavey logo, the new bottom painted a close-to-correct finish black, and the metal corners put on, it should be funky and presentable for places outside the garage, as it were.
I'm on the lookout for a cool old 215 cab now.

Just for grins, I googled Kasino Bass Amp(like mine). Somebody had one w/o the head-2x15 cab. Built like a tank and only slightly heavier. That's why mine is my practice amp b/c it ain't leavin' the house.

These days laying down the low end means I have trouble getting off the sofa!
I guess old bass players have lower ends as they age lolll

Nothing cooler looking than the tuck & roll, for sure. But, I could no more afford them than I could afford a Fender back then. And I seemed to hear nothing but complaints from the owners about either heads or speakers blowing! The music stores had lots of ragged out used ones for sale. Still, a pristine blue resides on my lottery bucket list.

There was a store in Orlando that had a bunch of cabs and combos in various colors and speaker configurations. He closed the shop and went to online and by appointment. I bought a piggyback 7ender Bassman from the place b4 he closed. Can't remember the name of the place.
