Congrats, gsg! Fire that pup up and see what that combination paper and aluminum driver sounds like. I’ve never gotten the opportunity to play through one before and would like to know what it sounds like.
Is that got casters or do you have to use bulging biceps to haul it around?
Thanks. It comes with casters, but it's a solid wood cab, weighing in at just under 58 pounds. The Hartke HyDrive Series speakers are really something. I played through them before, having had some previous Hartke combos, and cabs with the HyDrives speakers in them. An old friend played through Hartke amps toward the end of his playing, almost 5 years ago in October of 2014.
Hot and dry, instrumentalist. Give it a try in Las Vegas where it’s a sure bet!

Did the Sunday afternoon outdoor charity gig today, thankfully they had us in a different sheltered spot this time. Typical FL T-Storms. Played the 67 TBird into the R200c. Sounded great. We did a whole lotta 60s-70s songs I'd never played b4, but I've heard 69000 times, so it was "What key?" and away we go. Missed 1 lick on "Space Truckin'". Oh, well, next time.
Being we're in the middle of a holiday celebration and new members have been added of late, I thought it'd be a good time to run the current roster of this here incredible club. Check out our latest additions or wander down Memory Lane looking up some old acquaintances. I'm challenging all members to find us at least nine more bass-playing comboites (yes, 'dog, that's a word I just added to our official club diktionary) so that we may reach 150. Solid number, I should say. Let's do it!

You’re probably wondering what I’m babbling about. I wrote saying I’d list the latest roster and then did no such thing. Sorry about that. As soon as I get to Command Central I’ll reveal its quite impressive names; many that do not begin with a capital letter!
In lieu of our move, I’ve been boxing up things in the man cave. I found an old MD receipt for a Shure mic back in ‘07. Rarely does anything last that long with me and yes, I still have it. If you’re wondering, it’s been 12 years since we last moved.
Did I miss something? Are you and Mrs. Leader moving? What? Having outgrown (or simply grown bored of) the current castle? Sights set on a more imposing abode, are you? Why, I thought your Grande Ballroom was more than fabulous for the last Combo Club Bash with the 6 stages for twice that many bands over the entire weekend. And none of the guests had any complaints for their accommodations, either in the Main House or the various cottages on the estate. Mrs. Dog and I particularly liked the "Carriage House Pub" styled house, with the Stumbos, the Plaid One and all the others. Good times, good times.

Yep, #2 and I are heading to greener pastures. Actually, we're moving 30 seconds east of where we currently live. I really thought I mentioned it previously, but along with heading to Ohio for a four-day "tour," the move is this summer's curriculum-writing replacement. One summer soon I'm just gonna look out a window and mumble. Mmm...I better not wish for that one too loud.
There's a very unique story to it too. My best buddy of a half-century, The Reverend, found the perfect retirement house here in our hometown for him and his wife, but the only problem is he's not ready to retire for another 3-5 years. So as not to lose the house, he is buying it and offering #2 and I to caretake it until they move back, again, sometime around 2024 or so. Being the internationally-known lovers of intrigue and adventure as we are, we said, "sure." So we're leaving our 1,200 sq ft duplex of a dozen years (since married) and are moving to a 3,400 sq ft palatial estate complete with numerous bedrooms and bathrooms, lawn service, brand new appliances, a music room/man cave for yours truly where a NO KIDS ALLOWED sign will be nailed to the door to ward off hooligans, and I believe even a partridge in a pear tree out back.
Is this crazy? Sure it is. Will it work? Maybe. Will life-long memories be made? Most likely. So for the next few weeks, I'll be in and out carrying heavy boxes and whatnot, but plan on sneaking in a pic or two from this, the fourth Ohio trip in three years. Next time the Rev and I get together to play unless he once again convinces me to head east, will be here in town. I can't wait.

And congrats to Rev. "Fingers" John on the retirement plan! We also bought our retirement home a few years before retirement. Took a leisurely full year moving into it before putting the previous residence on the market. When it sold so quickly my commute to work abruptly increased by an hour each way! Luckily my elderly mom was needing a weekday live-in by then. And soon I had to hire a weekend visiting nurse, too, so I could visit Mrs. Dog at our new home. Then, when she required full-time care, and I was ready to retire, we both moved to our final residences.

That is a really best story, ‘Dog. Isn’t it funny how when you’re young you never seriously think what 60 and beyond are really gonna bring until you actually get there and it’s time to figure out the next 20 years.
Yep, this new place sets up for what I’m calling “The Final Resting Place,” which is code for the condo or whatever. Then “Boot Hill” is code for the retirement home and “Cemetery Plot” is code for...uh...the actual cemetery plot. Hopefully that won’t be until I can find the perfect bass amp to go with my Beatle bass.

Whew! A tad higher than I’m probably thinking, but it’d make a wonderful conversation piece, wouldn’t it? I’m assuming because of the price it’s a 60s original. The worst thing about it, GP, is if ya owned it you’d get drowned out by all the teenyboppers and never hear yourself!
