Yeah, but yer Beatle Bass would sound amazing. Mic it FOH and blow minds.
Good evening fellow combo clubbers! Last couple months have been quite a whirlwind - tragedy, sadness, happiness all rolled into one. Way too much to get into presently, but wanted to share a most happy NAD for me. Long story short, one of my nephews wanted to start learning bass a couple years ago. His mom got him a nice used MIM P to learn on. And I gifted him my Behringer Thunderbird practice amp - 25 watts, 8 inch speaker.. Fast forward to just recently, he's started to jam with some friends (14-15 yr olds) and of course, the amp is not cutting it for that. They visited recently and he fell in love with my Blackstar U250. It's perfect for what he wants to do, so favorite uncle to the rescue - I gave him the amp. And of course he was

Now also recently, I reconnected with some friends/bandmates from my first gigging band - and now we're kicking around jamming and possible playing out (occasionally) again. So, I had already had the thought of maybe getting the U500 - as I would now need the extra "umph" for my new venture. Went to GC, so I could mess around with one, perhaps play on some others - and ultimately decide what I want. U500 sounded great and then I looked over at the Rumble 500. Rumble 500 (I had demoed before) sounded great as always. Then I picked up the U500....
Then I picked up the Rumble 500....
. Woulda bought a new one there on the spot, but they wouldn't match amazon and hey, $50 is $50. So 2 day prime delivery delivered this beauty today!

My back agrees with you 100%, GP! Even the Stage 800 is only 40 lbs; roughly the same weight as the 100-watt Acoustic 1-12 combo.

This is a very good point. There's load-in, and there's load-out, and they're not the same thing.
Most emphatically! Load-in, for me, always has the hope and expectation of fun and pleasant harmonies and, hopefully, an appreciative audience, twinged with the anxiety that I have all the necessary backup gear for the dreaded unexpected circumstances. Load-out usually has the physical exhaustion soothed by the bittersweet memory (already!) of a good, enjoyable show that I wish could've gone longer, even if I couldn't have, physically. Oh, yeah, and there's carrying stuff each way, much easier in than out!

Aux In and Headphone Out, a decent pair of cans and it's all Ampeg piped directly to whatever bits are under all that bone and tissue. The brain hears it just fine so it's groove time when it's also sleepy time for others ....

Nope, not at all. Probably me more then anything. There’s been no one to offer witty banter, challenge a combo enthusiast’s beliefs, grant nifty numbers to newbies, or hobnob with other fellow wizards.
We’re in the midst of moving and it has been one truly laugh riot, ladies and gents, but we have also gotten a lot done in the process. John and I head east on Wednesday and honestly, we both need a break from all the contractors, repairs, and stair climbing.,
There’s enough room in the car to bring the Stage 800 to its first gig. I’m looking forward to my created settings and how they’ll blend into the mix. Chance of rain and lower 90s temps forecast for Saturday in Ohio.
bhendrix, don’t shed a tear at the club’s light activity. It’s summer and people are out rocking stadiums with 50-watt combos! A guy can dream, can’t he?
M, your Ampeg combo comment couldn’t have been truer. Word for word, that’s how I feel too. Possibly the most perfect practice with oneself; not even with anyone else. We practiced tunes a couple times, once with the BA-108v2 and once with the Rumble 100, and the ‘Peg has to work harder at staying with a flute and acoustic guitar stalking behind you. The Rumbler made it easier to cut through with the larger speaker, but the Ampeg, to me, still sounds better.
Finally, though I promised there will be no more combo purchases for 2029, I’m pretending like I’m looking. Still fun, saves money, but no anticipation in waiting for the “box to arrive!” Anyone on the prowl for a new combo? I’d like to read someone’s thoughts on either the new Peavey line or the TE Elf-series amps. Christmas is coming, people!!!

Meant to post Sunday afternoon but was too drained. Did the Sunday[freebie]noon to 4 open mic/jam. Typically hot S.E. FL day but the humidity was not too ridiculous so I took the 67 TBird and R200c. Gain and volume around 10, Bass also 10ish, both mids 2, treble 9. Actually used o/d a coupla times(new footswitch)but still prefer a clean sound. Had no trouble keeping up with 2 guitars and strong drummer. Coulda tooken the R112 but really don't need it and that's one less trip to/from the van. Won't be doing that gig this Sunday; our band has a wedding reception-for $.
I believe that's my least favorite activity of all time! Have transplanted myself way too many times over the years. And you gotta laugh,or you'll spend too much time crying!
I was too ashamed to post results of my regular Sunday morning gig. I had hoped, and even posted the intention in GOFs, to "craft" some Rumble Studio tones to help break the hold that #9, "Deep Rumble" has on me. Well, I did use #11, "TV Bassman Clean" on the first song! It was a wake 'em up rocker! Yay, me! But, everything after that was #9, #9, #9 . . . ... Oh, well, baby steps. Baby steps.
