What’s the poundage of that Casino, GP? Over a hundred combined?

The Kasino weighs in at approximately 170#+/-. It is a "combo"(one piece)amp with the head in a factory built space at the top. Their extension cabs didn't have the pre amp built in but did have the power amp inside the cab.<added comment>I wish I'd gotten at least one extension cab (4x12) back when a)I could get them, b)I could lift them.

I would be pleased as a pig in...uh,...mud to take a pic of just the Kasino in front of the "world famous" garage door. Would you like to help move it? Otherwise, we'll go with this old pic.(I shoulda put the 2 Peaveys together and the B25 w/ the Rumbles)oops!

Scars? You can see them? I tend to view them as badges of honor for hauling the old Peavey PA system back in the eighties. Did ya know those columns are heavy?

Yeah, to be official in my mind, the Kasino must be in front of the famous garage door, though it’s time I show some flexibility and appreciate in different environments.

Hey folks, guess what showed up around 10:30 this morning? It’s always the “end of the day” drop off, but my guess is because it’s so impossiblely light (could not believe picking up the box outside the front door), they decided I should get it earlier. I’ve had a contractor here all morning so I haven’t unboxed, but this afternoon may be open to birth it. Pics ensuing.

I do find your li'l Bassman most attractive, though. How about some closeups & profiles of that one? It currently is "blessed" with a hum, which is not affected by turning any knob on it. Same low volume at all times.. The tone on it is great('cept for the hum), tho the weight is 16# more than the R40.

Indeed! Scars, on our basses or faces, are testaments of trials or witnesses to histories, chocked full of mojo and magic, and greatly to be treasured! They should only be earned, and not freely given.

Voxy Lady? Well, you just named my combo amp...congrats and way to create! Best thing is if M gets in the mood to sooner or later go VOX she won’t have the rights to that moniker, though it most likely would fit her!

Vox Update in one word: Wow! (And I haven’t even plugged in yet)

So why the wow? Yesterday I decided to go back and read the Doggie/KbD thread when they first bought their VX50ba combos. It was a great re-read as the fellas described their first impressions.

KbD told us how much he enjoyed pushing the amp and getting a satisfying grind out of it. G’Dog loved the light weight to help out his aching back and the fact it filled his church with warm bass.

So after finding time this afternoon to open her up, I accidentally sliced my right index finger with #2’s sharp scissors. (Note to 007: order me a pair of those child-proof scissors the Kindergarteners use)

While I was mending I decided to take a few pics and set up the amp. Though it’ll end up on my stool when playing, I decided to swap out the Rumble and run my phone into the Aux In and... “Kaboom!” You guys didn’t mention this thing sounds good, full-range good. No dead highs, this amp made Bob Mould actually sound like Bob Mould. The bass frequencies were nice too, especially since this amp hasn’t been stretched out yet.

To close, no, I haven’t played a stringed instrument through the VOX yet, but definitely color me quite intrigued. The cab is interesting, the weight is nuts, and knobs/switches don’t feel cheap.

Good first afternoon. More to come. Hey ‘Dog, why the heck didn’t you try talking me into this contraption earlier?

That’s a fetching rig, sneha1965! Not too many white combos available these days. I’d go into battle with that setup.

I never used tubes before, but people told me you have to let them warm up for awhile before you use them. I found my Vox always sounded better at the end of practice than at the beginning, so I believe letting the little tubes warm up a bit makes a difference.

For 5 1/2 years I played through a piggyback 7ender Bassman* 6 nights a week. As soon as I came into the gig, I turned it on 'standby', uncased my bass, then plugged it in and didn't turn it 'on' 'til just b4 we started playing-about 10-15 minutes. Never replaced any tubes. Always sounded great.

Hi Doc! I was hoping you were gonna jump in on this discussion. Yeah, I’m still trying to figure this NuTube idea out. I just read a review of the guitar head/cab rig and the reviewer said he couldn’t tell any tube vibe from it, while others, like our folks, have mentioned they do hear a smoother, more rounded tone. I plan on treating it, as you’re advising, like a preamp tube. To me, everything sounds better after it’s warmed up, especially me!

Let me break in the speaker and find a tone I’m happy with, and then I’ll report back (I’ll try and add an audio clip too). If it’s as good as I’m hearing from other owners, I’ll be sure to recommend it for under the tree in December! I’ll say this, it’s by far the lightest bass combo amp I’ve ever lifted. Now if it works with the Beatle bass I’ll be one happy camper.

Hello - I am requesting a member number. I currently have a Rumble 100; Had the Rumble 25, 40 and 500 previously. The great news is: My Ashdown Studio 15 Combo is supposed to arrive today. 300W RMS, 1-15" NEO & only 24.5 pounds. Does not have an Ext Speaker Jack but I should never need it as I have no projected gigs in a size place that may require more air flow than provided. Besides, there is always FOH through the DI.
Tom, 67 with physical limitations. Playing since...memory banks computing...Hum...Oh, since I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.
